"We the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have done so much, with so little, for so long, we are now qualified to do anything, with nothing" By Konstantin Josef Jireček, a Czech historian, diplomat and slavist.
News in lakes state are always shocking the country and the neighbors of lakes state. On the morning of August 19th, I received a call from the payams administrator on the situation in Yirol west.
According to him, he said that now we are scared because of the attacks that are being carried by the people from Rumbek East especially Akot payam, the neighboring payam with the Aluakluak payam.
He also said that insecurity is the order of the day like in April the attackers came and killed a man and girl in marial bek area. Yet that was after the peace conference which was held in Alualkluak which brought all traditional chiefs together plus the two commissioners of Yirol West and Rumbek East to find out the solution to the problem.
Just a day earlier, children and women were spending a night at the bush because of more attacks to the people in the villages like Tungul, marialbek. A pregnant womam was killed in Marial bek too.
Part of Agany village have been living in fear since January. Their farming activities have not been successful due to insecurity in the state. The group of cattle raiders is a big challenge for peace and instability in the state.
This problem has also brought about acute shortage of food because there is no farming activities in the areas affected by the cattle raiding.
That is all about the situation in the lakes state in particular Rumbek East and Yirol west concerning the on-going cattle raiding in the state.
