PRESS STATEMENT FOR THE LAUNCH OF THE SPLM RED ARMY LEAGUE

May 28, 2015 (SSB) — Revolutionary Greetings to you all from Red Army members in the SPLM and special appreciation to the SPLM leadership for the dedicated service to the SPLM and the people of South Sudan.
We would like to take this opportunity to inform Red Army members, former Red Army leaders, teachers, caretakers, SPLM members and the general public that the SPLM Red Army League has been established and will officially be launched on the Thursday 4th of June, 2015, starting at 12:00PM, at the SPLM House, and the Chief Guest of Honor will be H.E. the Vice President of the Republic and Deputy Chairperson of the SPLM, Cde. James Wani Igga accompanied by the Acting Secretary General of the SPLM, Cde. Dr. Anne Itto Leonardo.
The SPLM Red Army League is the body that brings together Red Army members within the SPLM for the purpose of promoting active participation of Red Army members within the SPLM as historical comrades, promoting patriotism, preserving the legacy of the SPLM/A liberation struggle, promoting unity within the party through the Red Army Legacy of oneness, reviving and promoting the historical liberation morale that always kept the movement strong and vibrant, as well as, enhancing mass mobilization and sensitization of the masses on political programs, activities, documents and resolutions of the SPLM, in collaboration with the SPLM General Secretariat.
It’s worth mentioning that the SPLM Red Army League has been established under Article 29 (3) (iii) of the Constitution of the SPLM, 2008 and Article 30 (7) (b) of the Draft Constitution of the SPLM, 2012, subject to the authority of the SPLM Leadership, operating in close collaboration with the SPLM General secretariat, under the direct supervision of the SPLM Secretary for Popular and Syndicated Organizations.
In light of the foregoing, we cordially invite you all to attend this historic launch of the SPLM Red Army League. It’s a great political landmark and historical milestone for the Red Army of South Sudan to actively support and enhance the progressive growth and development the SPLM into a strong, highly effective and politically vibrant historical party that is fully dedicated to achieving the aspirations of the people of South Sudan.
We earnestly look forward to welcoming you at this momentous occasion and your presence will be highly appreciated.
