Thiik Dinka Community: The fighting between Ananatak and Luachjang in Tonj East, Warrap State

Thiik Community’s peace message on going fighting between Ananatak and Luachjang in Tonj East, Warrap State.

October 13, 2015 (SSB)  —  On behalf of the Thiik Community Association (TCA), we urge all the communities to cease this going on fighting between Thiik, Luachjang, Akok and Jalwau and there is an urgent need for interventions by community elders, youths, women, paramount chiefs and the government of both warring communities between Ananatak and Luachjang.

It is very egregious that unexpected fighting has brought devastation and violence on all the Communities. We have lost so many of our young people and properties within our communities. In fact, it will take us many years to recover from this tragic incident!

But it is not too late for peace and friendship to prevail again between Ananatak and Luachjang.  These two communities have had a cordial relationship since the time immemorial partly because there has never been such senseless bloodshed between them.

In my opinion, there is nothing impossible if our community leaders, women and the youths of both sides come together and nip this unnecessary conflict in the bud.

I wish we could follow the footsteps of a peacemaker and unifying leader, late Keer Bol Weet, who had the zeal, indomitable courage, determination, resilience, and tenacity to bring peace and security to all the Bhar El Gazal states and within the Greater Tonj.

Kocrup Makuach Aleu,

Chairperson for organizing committee for Thiik Community Association (TCA).
