February 4, 2016 (SSB)  —  Aweil Community Association (ACA) is an organization that brings the people of Mading Aweil together wherever they are across the globe. Some of the Countries where such association is found include: The United States, Canada, United Kingdoms, Australia, Uganda, Egypt, Sudan, South Sudan (Home), among others. In Kenya, this Great Association of Aweil Community is represented by Aweil Youth Association in Kenya (AYAK).

Nationwide, Aweil Community or the people of Northern Bahr el Ghazal are known for being peace loving; and possess a highly dignified trade mark of being speaking the same language of unity. This has historical proof in the Country and beyond, and that is where the Humanitarian Agencies developed a term for Northern Bahr el Ghazal in which it is commonly called “Peace House.”

But it appears that the unity of the people of Mading Aweil is heading the dead block in Kenya under the current leadership as a dead glimpse was shown by the previous one! Just a concluded Cultural Celebration day of 30th January 2016 has proven that we are heading to the final stage of discrimination, disunity and disorganization if not filthy stage of despair.

It beat the understanding of the wise and sane to see such long awaited celebration having no Programme, no invited Guest of Honour, no organizers/ushers, no recognition of its own executive members including the Secretary of Culture who was supposedly be part of the organization since it was a cultural day which fall into his docket; and provokingly, to see almost everyone as a Master of the Ceremony as if Aweil Community is disorganize; but the truth is that our community is taken hostage by disorganized few who believed that it is unwise to be corrected.

By the way the fact that we (Aweil Youths) have been keeping quiet for so long does not meant that things are heading to the right direction but we had been doing that for the peace and unity of our people. But since the disorganized few think that they are the best; then we should spill the beans so that they can know that all they have been doing is mucky and dirty to dissatisfaction of our peace loving and decently organized natives.

Looking at the very people who are always on the top of their voices criticizing the government for corruption and mismanagement, they are exposing themselves to be very corrupt financially and administratively to extend that their corruption records are stinking high to heavens and the level of discrimination is as clear as the crystal…it seems they preach water and drink wine!

Let us clarify better about the issue of discrimination to the attention of Aweilians in Kenya. Aweil Youth Association in Kenya (AYA-K) was meant for all the people of Mading Aweil in Kenya but it is turning that there are invisible initials for the association as AYA-N (Aweil Youth Association in Nairobi) and possibly to the sister project, Aweil University Students’ Union in Kenya (AUSU-K) can soon also be changed to Aweil University Students’ Union in Nairobi (AUSU-N.)

Moreover, not all Aweilians in Nairobi are collectively served by these Nairobi Associations rather they selectively serve the few good boys, girls, women and men. Then where are we socially heading to?

It happen that AYA-N and AUSU-N leaderships are for Show off and that is why after the creation of 28 states, the very leaders of the above mentioned pocket projects are the ones advocating for the formation of the mini-associations of newly formed states since they see their terms expiring soon and they still wanted to continue with their empires of connmenship or “connwomenship.”

Crucially, the names of these associations should be changed and be specifically meant for Nairobians than just conning and begging the politicians, business men/women and sick (those coming to Nairobi for medication) by the use of our names and yet remain inconsiderate of Aweilians in Nakuru, Eldoret, Kakamega, Kitale, Bungoma, Kisumu, Kakuma and elsewhere in Kenya.

If one assume to be a leader of those that he/she doesn’t know and do not wanted to know then that amounted to nothing but discrimination or ignorance if less!

In nutshell, AYA-N and its sister pocket project (AUSU-N) and their leaderships should be reviewed, reconsidered or disbanded if it is becoming a suffocating agent of the society (Aweil) than being a remedy. In summary the following points forced us to write this piece:

The leadership of AYAK which in practice is AYAN, is having a lot of internal wrangles which were partly revealed during cultural and this set the leadership to be the Centre of discord among the people of Aweil in Kenya

Executive Members of AYAN happened to be the primary proponents and supporters of the formation of mini-associations in response to the creation of 28 states and this is proven by the current memberships of the so called Interim leaders of the mini-association and

AYAN and AUSU-N are repeatedly becoming inconsiderate and discriminative of other Aweilians outside Nairobi County and chose to serve the few sycophants.

Therefore, if the current leadership of Aweil Youth Association in Kenya or in Nairobi is unable to serve the people of Great Mading Aweil collectively then they deserve to resign so that they can give peace and unity of the people of Aweil in Kenya a chance.

The same tone can be raise to the leadership of Aweil University Students’ Association in Kenya or in Nairobi; they can either understand that Aweil is not for selected few but for all the people of Great Mading Aweil less they can must go.

As well, the executive members of the so called interim leaderships can understand that 28 states were not meant to divide the people of Aweil but meant to strengthen the political future of the nation.
