Uganda Government moves to solve South Sudan trade disputes

By Agnes Nantambi

The trade ministry has launched a committee to solve trade disputes between local traders and South Sudan. Th is in response to over 100 complaints of mistreatment by the South Sudanese, which were lodged by the traders operating in the country.

The committee is also expected to find lasting solutions to other business challenges facing Uganda and South Sudan, trade, industry and co-operatives minister Amelia Kyambadde, said.

Kyambadde said the committee was instituted after the two countries signed an agreement to promote and develop trade relations.

“The deal established a joint trade committee to identify problems that hamper bilateral trade co-operation and recommend solutions,” she said while launching the committee at the ministry headquarter in Kampala on Monday.
