According to this statement, the information minister has retracted his statement, which suggested that McClathy news reporter Alan Boswel is in the pay of the Khartoum government.

The minister says the statement was meant as a “figurative and not literal description of writing.” The statement expressed that “we hope that McClathy reporting is not selective or biased toward any agenda, no matter how well intentioned.”

“Nonetheless, my choice of words was not intended to be inflammatory. For the sake of understanding and harmony, we retract the statemet of Mr. Boswell being in the pay of Khartoum.”

It ended by saying that McClathy newspapers can visit South Sudan any time.
