THE CALLS FOR FEDERALISM DOESN’T QUALIFIED ONE TO HAVE JOINED A MASS REBELLION AS CLAIMED BY THE REBEL

I have been observing for a while, that many people including the rebels themselves plus other lost-sheep in the wilderness do confused the call for federal system with the motive of the rebellion.

The following were the songs sung by the rebel during their early stage of their rebellion:-

•The rebel did refer the government as the Dinka dominated government, so they were calling upon the other tribes to joined hands to fight Dinka in South Sudan.
•They did also describe the government full with rampant corruption, Bad foreign relations with poor diplomatic image and gross violation of human rights.
•They referred rebellion as for ethnic fighting as it was prophesized by Ngun Deng that Dr. Riak would topple the government and definitely would be the president as prophesized.
•The government of Salva turned against its own people in Juba, so the Nuers were running away for their live being killed.
•The rebel need upper Nile Independent as a country by its own (Prof Dechan refer it as Nuer Nation) because of its black-gold (oil) taps by the current govt.

After the rebel have seen some people from other tribes joining them, they are trying to switched their motive of rebellion to Federalism as their main slogan to why they rebelled, to me majority of those who supported the call for federalism do not support the rebellion what so ever because, the kind of governance or authority was the main problem in the country, it was not about system to be use in the country because federalism is system, assumed federalism is given to Kiir’s and his supporters today in the national government, we will still be yawning tomorrow.

Secondly, Ngun Deng misled Nuer that, someone with whose teeth has a gap would grasp the power and he would lead the country into total freedom, this was the main motive of the rebellion to Ngun Deng’s believers.

The supporters of federalism think that, the federal system will be discussed and agreed in Addis Ababa accord, this is a matured lie because, the country would needs to go for referendum in order to midwife the kind of system to be used country wide however, the chance of discussing this and agreed in Addis are nearly one to zero because federalism should be distinguished clearly with rebellion; some thought that, if they support federal system they automatically joined the so called mass rebellion which is not.

The precious time to talk about federalism or centralized system is yet to come because the kind of the system to be use in the country could be amongst the mandates of the upcoming interim government and who knows, this idea may be supported by many including the people in the current government leave alone the people in the oppositions and their likes within.

Lastly; federalism is a good idea but at a wrong time or simply it’s an idea whose time is yet to come. For someone to ask for federalism at this stage is like asking for the impossible to happen at a sightless hours or days. Let’s settle the disputes amongst ourselves in order to choose what kind of system that will suit our republic – South Sudan through a peaceful ballot.
