"We the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have done so much, with so little, for so long, we are now qualified to do anything, with nothing" By Konstantin Josef Jireček, a Czech historian, diplomat and slavist.

Today 30th July 2014 we are remembering our heroes who lost their lives just because of independence of South Sudan, mostly Dr. John Garang De Mabior who sealed this day on 30th July 2005, we will not forget you at all. When our nation thinks of a hero, we usually think of someone who has risked their life for the sake of others and showed courage in the face of fear. They show resiliency and stand up for something bigger than themselves.

While we honor our South Sudanese Military and celebrate their devoted service to our country, let us not forget that those who serve us in reach this situation of independence. They are men, women, fathers, sons, and children. They were all drawn to cause, a patriot’s cause. Those who died are remembered by their families, friends and by their country. While we honor our military, let us always remember to separate the war from the warrior. Not all who serve and sacrifice are our ages, are from our hometowns, or carry our names. But they are people who put their lives on the line for our country and they deserve to be remembered. Here is a beautiful tribute honoring a fallen hero Dr. John Garang De Mabior the founder of SPLM/A that led to formation of new nation of South Sudan.

We remembered you when you were just a captain during the first of Sudan and Southern part of Sudan of 1972 Ethiopia Capital Addiss ababa first test agreement. You therefore, analyzed what was signed as fully not suitable for the people of Southern Sudan and humbly wrote the first letter to Mr. Kur Chol who was in Upper-Nile province as the governor to study the agreement and to analyze the outcome of the peace agreement that was signed by Southern Sudan Son’s Joseph Lagu and Sudan president Nimeri. From that year you started organizing yourself and planed to liberate your people and we remember thinking about you as if we were there by then we could have joined you in struggle.

The news of your rebellion were loud important as the liberty bell itself. It was as if it rang as you wailed your first cry to your owned people. When some people including me listen to your first audio of 1984 may 16th I was very young in 2000 I hear of it, your speech loud out the reason why you choice to be rebel than collaborator in the country and why you chosen Sudan People Liberation Movement/Army (SPLM/A) as the party. The aim was to transform the country at large and to make those who were colonized and doom in politically, socially, and economically by fellows country mates as you’re though was to free them from poor governance and make them learned their impotency in the nation.

We were a little concerned. You were so fast with your group defeating government troops; you took control of many towns so fast with late comrade Kuanyin Bol and you were joined by comrade William Nyuon Bany in Bilpan. We remember when you could barely talk, but you could kick really hard, our knees still hurts from those boots. All you really ever had to say was victory and off we went to get or remembered those years we always feel vision should not be waste out people should learned your vision.   We remember when every Southerner believed in you and invest more loved to dress up and drive everyone.

We thought for sure you would lives forever within us we were having no idea of natural law that we would lost you at anytime, it was surprise and dangerous to lost you like that, but thanks God you have already liberated us out of lion den. We remember when you started to drive peace process in 2004, we think everyone remember when you started to preach peace across the internal displace people (IDP). Mostly people think and believed the modality that you putdown to finalize the peace agreement in Naivasha Kenya. We believed you are wiser than Solomon of Old Testament, you make perfect in transforming the peace chapter.

We remember you so much. We remember when everyone wanted to rebel against you in the bush, but you manage till you signed an agreement with Khartoum government. We will always remember you and our national’s heroes and ensure their sacrifices are never forgotten with our future.
