Bor Mayor, Nhial Majak Nhial, Should be the Next Governor of Jonglei State.

February 8, 2015 (SSB) — The biggest and the most populated state of South Sudan, Jonglei has never had a rest since the creation of man kind. Being inhabited by six different ethnic communities, it has been a damnation business to make them eat on the table of brotherhood.
Unfortunately, the major communities in this part of the third planet, earth keep cattle for their basic
livelihood. The Bor people value cattle second to life in the hierarchy of important ownership. This causes civil strife among the inhabitants of this state. The most notorious one is the Murle tribe that has to raid cattle and abduct children from others more so from the Dinka Bor.
This has happened in Bor County, Twic East County and Duk County across the land of Greater Bor. The people of Greater Bor have always lived in perpetual fear of loosing both their young children and cattle through abduction and raiding respectively. I can’t however underrate the high number of innocent people that have been killed in the struggle of resisting either of the mentioned inhumane acts.
The brutality of the Murle on Greater Bor intensified during the Yau Yau rebellion. 2011 marked the year in which the rebellion killed over sixty people in Jalle payam and touched down houses without forgetting that the gang made their way away with ten of thousands herds of cattle. Raiding was repeatedly done by the same group across the whole land till they repeated the same massacre on Ajuong Ku Pakeer payams on the 20th of October 2013. They fought the youth for over nine hours and the government could not even sent a single police to assist despite the long strife.
To come to the topic of tonight, it was once repeated recently that the same gang hijacked the usual spot, Jalle payam, they killed people, raised down houses and made away with cattle. The youthful and able leadership of Nhial Majak, Bor Town mayor and Mamer Ruk, Bor County commissioner was able to mobilize the youth and guided them, gave the needed assistance to fight and brought back their source of livelihood twenty-two hours after they had been raided.
This incident means that, if Nhial Majak and Mamer Ruk had a position to assist in 2011, the death of 60+ in Jalle would have been rescued and the same to the 80+ who died in Ajuong ku Pakeer. The young leadership of the people of Greater Bor is a working example.
If we have to regain our lost identity, reestablish our cattle economy without fear of the ghetto Murle, then Nhial Majak should be made the governor of Jonglei. This position will increase his influence to pursue the raiders to their last destiny, give him the power too to prevent such and allow him to punish wrong doings through legal means.
This should tell the youths to rally behind a one of their own who is willing and ready to sacrifice for the state and the vulnerable. It’s useless keeping the aged veterans who did their work of fighting a good war. The war of development should then be handed over to the youths and Nhial has demonstrated his willingness to lose everything his life inclusive for the people.
As I conclude, for me the youth should rally and say Nhial Majak ‘TOSHA’ for the Jonglei gubernatorial come the next elections and send cleat signal to the possible contestants in that elections if your first qualification should be an age of 42 downwards.
The young leadership of Mamer and Nhial should, oh no, I mean must be a uniting factor among the youths of the state and the country at large. Congratulations Mr. Mayor and your colleague the commissioner.
