YIROL WEST YOUTH ASSOCIATION CONGRATULATES HIS EXCELLENCY GEN. SALVA KIIR MAYARDIT, THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF SOUTH SUDAN FOR THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENT STATE AS EASTERN LAKES STATE.
October 5, 2015 (SSB) — Your Excellency, this letter affirms to convey to you our information in two ways. In one hand we need to congratulate and appreciate your entire endeavours and active commitment from the bush days to the present. We thank you for having stood firmly with Southerners in the dark days of the civil war till now. Your service to this nation replicates and coincides with the biblical Joshua, the son of Moses who ended the journey of Israelites to their promised land. Indeed you were truly God-given to serve this nation.
We believe that by the time your term ends in the future, the Southerners will have achieved their full dreams and vision as envisaged earlier. Upon this we recalled the famous quotes of Kwame Nkrumah of Ghana that, “freedom is not a commodity which is given to the enslaved upon demand”. It is a precious reward, the shinning trophy of struggle and sacrifice. Nor do struggle and sacrifice cease with the attainment of freedom. The period of servitude/slavery leaves behind tolls beyond what it is already taken. It has been through loss of lives and property to reach the present moments of happiness.
We the youth of Greater Yirol and Yirol West in particularly realized and witnessed the value of your positive contributions towards development and modelling the whole South Sudan into one solid body, although the enemies of peace and development always blackmail and deny your tangible struggles and services. The entire nation of the South Sudan and us in particular notified your bona-fide service as manifested in the following events:
- Attainment of the independence
- Formation of the three seats of the government (Judiciary, Parliament and Executive) of the Republic of South Sudan.
- You have built and strengthened international relationships with our neighbours and other countries
- Improvement in the sectors of health and education
On the other hand, we wish to express our bubbling happiness in our hearts due to the recent development of making Greater Yirol an independent state from Rumbek, this enclave idea was warmly welcomed with open arms by the entire community and that you have left them in real happiness throughout their lives, ‘maburuk alek’ for the job well done your Excellency.
We the youth of Greater Yirol (Yirol West, East and Awerial) suggest and hope that remaining as two independent States will bring peace among ourselves and will also proliferate or boom development through competitive advantage.
From the Darwinian concept of evolution, peaceful living on earth is what every organism toils for. This separation will ultimately defuse tensions created by thieves who operate in between borders of both communities hence a fair way of introducing amicable co-existence in our geographical areas of settlement. This would further more stop rampant cattle rustling which has always been the day’s subject between the territorial boundaries of Yirol West, Yirol East and Rumbek East Communities.
Message to our former State mates
In our view, the leadership glanced it that the assumed and ingrained supremacy of making your own brothers second class citizens within the previous State is intolerable and not a better option to go by thus giving rise to such a welcomed move of separate States just to protect human rights.
The division is also meant to create job opportunities to the unemployed elders and loitering youth in the positions of governor, deputy governor, counties commissioners, executive directors, Payam administrators and others to mention but a few.
We notify that our former State mates should not perceived such a division as a curse but is to increase and improve access to service delivery to the marginalized people of Greater Yirol in areas of education, health, security, safe water, food and running of effective businesses. We also believe that we have all what it takes to deliver these services through good administrative management from our elders and the youth body. It is now our prerogative to manage our affairs independently.
In spite of this division we promise to cooperate hand in hand with our former State mates and other South Sudanese around the country to promote peace, development and prosperity.
We wish the President long lasting leadership.
We vow to protect the dignity of our people and we will never betray South Sudan.
