No more agricultural activities in Lakes State because of intra-tribal conflict

December 9, 2015 (SSB) — Lakes state was an agrarian state but conflict make no way through and therefore the majority malevolent youths have opted to get their food by looting. If there were no manufacturers of cars, airplanes, goods etc. still we could keep alive but without farmers, we should die of hunger.
South Sudanese even before the conflict erupted have chosen politics as the source of getting money and feed families with that ill-gotten wealth. Therefore, the idea of farming becomes as hard as peace between Dr. Riak and President Kiir.
In all parts of the state (Lakes), uncivilized and laziest men have caused many troubles in order to create a difficult situation of no farming activity so that they will be free from being blame by elders for not cultivating their farms. If one dares to cultivate, you may be disfigure or kill forthwith and of course there are too many stories in the police archive on that matter.
Now as I am writing this article, the skyrocketing commodities in Rumbek town are likely to become unaffordable for average people. For instance, 10 kgs of maize flour cost SSP 200 currently. Who should we blame? Should we blame those insurgents?
No! Unless those on the eastern bank of the White Nile to blame them but for us on the west bank, I think we are the architect of our own confusion. This discombobulation was created by our primitive youths and I cannot separate intellectuals from the group because they are supporting them financially.
Off course few apron strings readers may fall out with me on this particular articles and I will still insist to say that even transferring ten MTN units to the person in the field of communal fighting is a very great funding to that conflict because the person will mobilize the other youths for an attack.
Why are we causing this havoc to ourselves? We have did it to the extent that if one killed the other, the killer may walk leisurely as if he had killed a rat unlike those days when you kill; you must run fast in order to escape the arm of the law or surrender to the law authorities for protection till settlement of the case is done later.
This state has become a kangaroo court where a group of people have taken the law into their own hands and conduct trials which deny fundamental justice. We will suffer and suffer from the hands of racketeering businessmen who have taken the advantage of the situation that we have just caused instead of allowing our own farmers to produce food for our daily consumption as usual.
The few people like the writer of this article and the rest are really indeed disconsolate after losing what should have been an easy game. The prey that Lakes state people are currently pursuing is inedible.
The events of food shortages in South Sudan and in Lakes State specifically are the prelude of the famine that is likely to happen. It is too regrettable for us. We must preach the peace at this very hour in order to re-establish our agricultural activities before it is too late.
Let allow the politicians to confuse themselves without us and stick to our own daily activities in order to stand on our feet.
