SPLM IO leaders return to Juba this evening and chief negotiator Gen. Taban Deng Gai has this to say:
“We deliberated in Pagak for two days. The leadership of the IO recommended and decided that we should insist and stick to the implementation of the agreement in spirit and letter, which means ‘ten states’ is what the agreement was signed on the basis. In case of disagreement between us and the government, we shall ask JMEC to decide or report to the AU and the [-UN] Security Council. This is important because we don’t want to disagree later on, because the agreement was signed on the basis of the ten states. As to the formation of TGoNU, it is important also we form the TGoNU on the basis of a constitution. It is when we have full incorporation of the agreement into the constitution, and then we shall have a TGoNU.”

A. Respond of the SPLM/SPLA (IO) to 28 states created by President Kiir.
B. Creating Presidential Advisors.
C. Seat falling vacant in the parliament and how to fill the seat (s).
D. SPLM reunification.
Resolutions.
1. The SPLM/SPLA (IO) will stick to peace agreement and abide by the agreement stating 10 states only.
2. The SPLM/SPLA (IO) will accept 5 Presdential Advisors and IO will have 2 Advisors and GRSS will have 3 Advisors.
3. Filling the vacant seats is to conduct by election. SPLM/SPLA (IO) supports by elections.
4. On the SPLM Reunification, President Kiir is not for the Reunification of SPLM. So the SPLM (IO) might opt for a party in the future.
Conclusion, the SPLM/SPLA (IO) 38 members of the team who came from Juba will go back to Juba today 22, 2016 to present our resolutions to JMEC.
Comment by SSB Editor: President Kiir accommodating the SPLM-IO in luxurious hotels in Juba; Dr. Riek Machar sending Taban and his team back to Juba today….These are positive, encouraging, commendable steps….go forward and form the damn government of national unity. Only you…Kiir and Riek plus your lieutenants…will save or destroy South Sudan. It was a big shame to wage the civil war, to have UPDF in South Sudan, to be dictated upon by IGAD, and to now have JMEC lording it over Junubeen. You brought this mess, it is up to you, again, to remove the stain on our national conscience. No more oil money to quarrel over…no more reason to disagree, right Bany Kiirdit and Diktoor Riek?
