Civil society group in Jonglei state rejects the creation of more counties in the state

May 3, 2016 (SSB)  —-  The Jonglei Institute for Peace Democracy and Development reject the creation of more counties in new Jonglei state and call upon the government of Jonglei state to reverse the order immediately without delay.

In an interview with The PaanLuel Wël: South Sudanese Bloggers [SSB], the secretary for information of the Jonglei Institute for Peace, Democracy and Development (JIPDD), Jongkuch Jo Jongkuch, says that when he hears the new creation of more counties in Jonglei state he was disappointed.

“The government is creating more counties while the current government is not even managing to afford to pay their staffs and even the vehicles for their staffs and ministers”.

Jongkuch further adding that, the minister’s foot always without using vehicle and it is very embracing if the minister can foot. “If the government can’t afford the vehicle for the ministers then how are they going to manage to pay and employ the new officials?” he ask

Jongkuch said; His worry is that, the government of Jonglei state and the national government of south Sudan has being complaining about the financials problem that hits the whole country, so now where are they going to get money to maintained and support the new administrative units.

However, he call an urgent reaction from the national government and Jonglei state to reverse it and sit down and see how to develop the former three counties which comprise of Twic East, Duk and Bor Counties and provide vehicles for staffs and provide some developmental project that will contribute to the welfare of the people of South Sudan said Jongkuch Jo Jongkuch.

Jongkuch says the Government should have to value the lives of the citizens, we know it is the vision of the SPLM party of taking town to the people but they don’t have resources, are we capable of managing ourselves, why don’t we build peace first among these three counties.

Jonglei state is one of the most affected states during the late 2013 crisis which need government and NGOs intervention to change the current economic situation for the well-being of nationals and start preaching peace, healing, recondition and forgiveness he declare.

The Jonglei’s Institute for Peace, Democracy and Development (JIPDD) is a state-based think-tank that engages in social media, radio talk shows, public lectures, panel discussions, workshops, seminars, press releases, opinion articles, and study meetings to promote peace, democracy and development in Jonglei State.
