Build a culture of peace and forgiveness: Governor Philip Aguer

May 17, 2016 (SSB) — The governor of Jonglei state Philip Aguer Panyang has urged the Dinka and Nuer communities to build a culture of peace and forgiveness for South Sudan to be nation of region. Comrade Philip Made the same call at Diocesan headquarters St. Andrew church.

The government must sensitize our communities that the return of our brothers (Nuer) should not be a point of tension again they should be welcome because Nuer community who are coming back to Jonglei because have properties here and this is the root to Akobo, Fangak,” Aguer told PaanLuel Wël (SSB) Media in an exclusive interview on Sunday.

The people should be capable to forgive and reconcile because the future of South Sudan lies in reconciliation and forgiveness,” he further said.

The Governor further said without peace, there is no South Sudan, without reconciliation there in no building of nation.

“If you kill more people we will be losing but if you adopt peace forgiveness and reconciliation you will preserve the lives of those who are alive today and this people who are alive today will build South Sudan,” Aguer said.

He said the Youth must open a new page despite the tool of thousands of people and looting of properties in 2013 crisis.

Governor Aguer acknowledged that although the war was politically motivated ethnicity was used.
