The current status on the implementation of the peace agreement

June 6, 2016 (SSB) — South Sudanese leaders are not yet implemented the following, according to the discussion between the President Salva Kiir and’s two vice presidents.

  1. Dr Riek Machar Teny the first vice president and James Wani Igga the second vice president on 03 June 2016, the meeting talk about the Transitional national legislative assembly to be formed as soon as possible. The leaders are waiting for the nominees (MPS) of the other political parties.
  2. Presidential advisors have been agreed to be (19) presidential advisors who are already appointed by the president SPLM/A-IO to have (6) presidential advisors and (FDS) other political parties to have (3) Presidential advisors.

3- Vacant seats in the parliament President Kiir appointed (10) MPS already and now are confirmed by the presidency. The rest of the remaining (6) MPs will be appointed after joint consultation with their constituencies and president (FVP) and VP. 4- Reinstatement of the MPs who left because of the war will be reinstated immediately.

5- Reinstatement of civil servants.

A- All the civil servants who left or dismissed because of war will be reinstated.

B- First vice president to provide the comprehensive list of these civil servants.

6- Independent commissions and institution to be reconstituted based on the   power sharing radio of the parties to the agreement.

The selection committee of the parties to the agreement shall sit and allocate and select the independent commission and institution based on the power sharing radios.

7- National reconciliation and healing to be launched soon and the parties to appeal to the international community for the support.

8- South Sudan and Sudan cooperation agreement of operation September 2012 to be operationalized. The file will be in the office of first vice president of the republic of south Sudan.

The presidency resolved also to invite the IGAD leaders to explain on the selection of the speaker.

Pending issues on the implementation of the ARCSS

1-Election of speaker of the TNLA.

 2- Changing of the political affiliation in the parliament.

3- Representation of the SPLM/A-IO in the special reconstruction fund.

The meeting was excellent and this is the way for the three leaders to implement the (ARCISS), but the question is when the above mentioned issue will be implemented by TGoNU?
