"We the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have done so much, with so little, for so long, we are now qualified to do anything, with nothing" By Konstantin Josef Jireček, a Czech historian, diplomat and slavist.

The Political Hoes

2 min read

By Ayuen Kelei, Juba, South Sudan

We the so much Willing

The fountain of freedom

Up and down the hills

And valleys of struggle

We have done so much with little

But they are still ungrateful

Yet tirelessly cultivated for them

With their oligarchy

We the blind are so much willing

We are the cart pullers

As they leave us in pits

Stuck in mud trying so much to pull

The carrier of grudges

Up on high tables, they laugh and share wine happily as we ignorantly fight

Their periodically strategized wars

We at the day end, gain nothing but

Deaths for the rewards of wars

Fought on their behave.

We the so much Willing

Are faked with peace on papers

And inking the so-called documents of peace

We are yet to realize that

We were faked

Oh yes, we must begin to see

The game being played for this long

By the self centred referees of the match.

We the so much Willing

Are the tools of the players

The Yankees who ought to be

The heroes and heroines at our expense

With strategies played periodically

Yes we must unveil the oligarchy

For the claimed freedom

We are yet to secure!
