June 27, 2016 (SSB) — The issue of 28 states is not more of Addis Ababa and Juba thing; it is a demand of people of South Sudan that need to be addressed by the common man in the country side.

The creation of 28 States has nothing to do with more talk of diplomacy. It is an administrative decision that should not be interfered with by anybody according to Jonglei state top officials.

“If you are from America, Europe and wherever you are coming from come down to Bor, Rumbek, Torit or Aweil and uncover what the people are adage about creation of 28 states,” Dr. Agot Alier Leek, Jonglei State advisor on political affairs told the PaanLuel Wël website in an exclusive.

“It was demand of people of South Sudan and we want it like that not more than 28 states and no less simply because there is one greedy person somewhere who want things to be done in his way, that person is waging another war in South Sudan,” He further said.

The South Sudan Council of States ratified the constitutional amendments on the establishment of 28 states as a replacement of the defunct ten. The implementation of the 28-states was also approved by South Sudan law makers.

But still, the move to create 28 states has stirred controversy and condemnation from the armed opposition, sections of civil society, and the international community as being a violation of the signed peace agreement.

Dr. Agot accuses the West of undermining, too much interference in the affairs of South Sudan. He said the agenda of the West is to be perceived that they are the rulers of South Sudan adding that the local population will not accept it.

“The decision is up-to us, if we whether want 100 states like in the United States of America was anybody consulted in the world, when Khartoum created 10 states in South Sudan did anyone interfere? So what is so particular of South Sudan? Dr. Agot concluded.
