"We the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have done so much, with so little, for so long, we are now qualified to do anything, with nothing" By Konstantin Josef Jireček, a Czech historian, diplomat and slavist.

Lost chances

Often I would write a passionate poem

But I cannot tell who this is for anymore

For we have buried to many to count

We have passed their old and tired graves

And still we have more to feed the earth

Violence being each ones last memory

Perpetual war and unending sorrow

We continue to deplore home with war

Honour to those who fought for us

Often I would follow the rules of this game

But I cannot tell who the winner is anymore

These years have given us pain and sadness

For we have lost more than we have gained

Here lies a grandfather father and son

Generations of comrades and true patriots

Release us all from this unending unrest

Oh what I would give to live peacefully

Honour to those who fought for us

Often my words are not of bitterness

But I cannot bring myself to admit this fact

But the glow of peace is slowly fading

As I continue to question political decisions

I look up at our flag floating in the wind

The pride I felt as it rose 5 years ago

And it becomes unclear for a minute

Whether there’s hope for future generations

Honour to those who fought for us
