August 15, 2016 (SSB) — Aweil community was form between 1994 and 1995 in Nairobi, Kenya then collapsed in 2003 and later revived in 2008 where the election is held every year in the second week of August according to the constitution.

Finally, its total collapse came as result from the presidential decree on 24/12/2015, which turned 10 states to 28 states in the Republic of South Sudan.

The creation of new states brought different changes in South Sudan and outside South Sudan especially the communities and the unions which were form during the period of ten states in South Sudan.

As matter of fact, the citizens welcome the new states with expectations of getting job opportunities and fair delivery of social services.

Generally, we would like to aware the public that, the executive of Aweil community has been dissolved from the very day of presidential decree and concluded when interim leaderships were form depending on the new states created by president, Salva Kiir, regarding the former Northern Bahr el Ghazal State, Aweil.

Now, we can talk of Lol, Aweil East and Aweil State Communities in Nairobi, Kenya. There is nothing like Aweil Community as some of our brothers and sisters claim to hold the positions of chairperson, finance and secretary general in Aweil Community.

The leadership is no longer alive but the people are still Aweilian by the virtue of which they were originally from Aweil. There will be a time for us to form Greater Aweil Community in Kenya (GAC-K). Let’s wait.

The communities in diaspora have no powers of their own to reject the decision taken by government in collaboration with its embassies outside South Sudan.

Conclusion, we South Sudanese citizens in diaspora have no right to the extent of denying what is good to ourselves and our people back home. The creation of the new states is welcome and we appreciate our president for his wise decision to created 28 states in the Republic of South Sudan.
