October 8, 2016 (SSB) — Three invigorate contestants for the Chairmanship of Duk Padiet Youth Association on Saturday pledge to curve the current deaths characterized by child-abductions, cattle wrestling, ambushing and cold-blooded killings of civilians in the bushes of Duk and that of Greater Bor region in their campaign for leadership at White Nile Hotel.

Duk Padiet villages counter raids brought about painful and unnecessary sufferings in terms of lives, properties and emotional wellbeing to the common people on the ground.

The contestants said the state of Jonglei is on fire and factually, there would be raging catastrophe if youth fail to be organize to respond if needs be. The wounds inflected are deep and untreatable in the hearts of young people of Duk who lost hundreds of children, livestock, lives, trust and love with their neighbors. But still, they are determined to live in their war torn villages.

Because youth sought, using undreamed visionary youth leadership to restore their stolen dignity, cattle, children and pride, elections will be held on Sunday for the youth to decide on who takes over the leadership for the next few years..

The first contestant Mr. Deng Akech Deng borrowed governor Aguer slogan sang as Peace, Unity and development as reasons for contesting for chairman of Duk Padiet youth association that represent, good leadership, women empowerment, unity of Nyiel, Duor, Pathel, Rich and Angaach sections of Duk.

He accuses the former leadership of nepotism and diversion of youth funds for personal gain.

“We need not to embark on their marks on our faces being called Nuerbil people or Dinka people instead of Greater Bor that always cause us problems of insecurity on the road and river side,” He said.

“Upholding and cherish our norms and cultural values not to be tempered with by outsiders,” Chol said.

Mr. Chol Majak Deng said the Duk Padiet Youth Association DCYA is nonpartisan, nonprofit making organization focusing on youth welfare of Duk with headquarters in Bor and branches across and beyond the borders of Jonglei state.

He pledges to exercise good governance among the youth, building trust for co-existence among the community diverse classes of politicians, traditional chiefs, religious leaders, and community elders and women group.

“We need transparency when dealing with community issues to promote reconciliation creating systematic and reliable methods of dealing with sensitive issues through lawful means,” Chol Majak said

The other contestant Mr. Madhang Khan Wuor challenged his running mates that the security and other projects lies in the hand of the government, not youth leaders.

“Let us not pretend and lie about things which are not our own, security and big projects which are solely government job and way beyond our mandate, let the youth take care of their own affairs,” He challenged.

Madhang promised to draft a constitution which will serve as a legal document to guide youth path and actions.

The general assembly will vote tomorrow and the upcoming Duk Padiet Youth Association chairman shall be announced immediately.
