January 14, 2017 (SSB) — Poverty is one of the main causes of hunger in South Sudan. Many individuals and families have to make a trade-off between buying food and paying for other expenses such as health insurance, utilities bills, medical expenses and others. Poverty affects access to nutritious meals and restricts resources to finding these nutritious meals. Natural disasters such as floods, hurricanes, earthquakes, and tornadoes, exploitation of the environment, and war are additional causes of hunger.

Ending poverty is everyone’s business. I welcome you to join our hands together in this year 2017 for poverty reduction summit and hosted an energetic agricultural Communities summit in South Sudan and the City of South Sudan in Juba, one Capital States where we will build on the work of our previous agricultural plans in 2015 and 2016. In 2017 we will be expanding the conversation to examine the role of business and multi-sectoral approaches to poverty reduction from across the South Sudan.

The Cities reducing Poverty, when Business is engaged summit or meeting will bring major business leaders together with community organizers, mayors and municipal staff and provincial/territorial governments, Indigenous leaders, as well as funders, policy makers, and persons with lived experience with a focus on ending poverty.

Let’s take our collective understanding of multi-sectoral poverty reduction to the next level. JOIN ME AS I WORK TO:

  • Consider key roles that businesses play in poverty reduction collaborative, from contributory to core leadership;
  • Learn how leaders, mayors and municipalities have been progressing with poverty reduction efforts since the 2016 Cities Reducing Poverty summit;
  • Discover innovations in poverty reduction work;
  • Identify evaluation strategies that help us learn and create accountability in our work; and
  • Explore some of the most promising practices across the country.

This is a time of real hope as citizens; cities, provinces/territories; the federal government and the business sector join together and support one another to significantly reduce poverty in South Sudan. Be a part of this monumental or massive discussion. Meet allies, access new tools, share resources, and discover new practices with sector leaders from across the nation.

We use the word cities mainly to differentiate local poverty reduction efforts from provincial and federal initiatives and strategies. Please note that the event will feature communities of all sizes and I had intentionally encouraged smaller and rural municipalities to arrange in addition to big cities.

Natural disasters such as floods, hurricanes, earthquakes, and tornadoes, exploitation of the environment and war has jeopardized or put some of communities people into a situation in which there is danger of loss, harm or failure for most of our agriculturalists into fear therefore agriculture or farming percentages may be poor or unfortunate this year 2017 regardless to war factors in our country.

Security is the degree or factor of resistance to, or protection from, harm. It applies to any vulnerable and/or valuable asset, such as a person, dwelling, community, item, nation, or organization. As noted by the Institute for Security and Open Methodologies (ISECOM) in the OSSTMM 3, security provides “a form of protection where a separation is created between the assets, people and the threat.” These separations are generically called “controls,” and sometimes include changes to the asset or the threat.

Security is said to have two dialogues. Negative dialogue is about danger, risk, threat, etc. Positive dialogue is about opportunities, interests, profits, etc. Negative dialogue needs military equipment, armies, or police. Positive dialogue needs social capital, education, or social interaction.

Perceived security compared to real security: Perception of security may be poorly mapped to measurable objective security. For example, the fear of earthquakes has been reported to be more common than the fear of slipping on the bathroom floor although the latter kills many more people than the former. Similarly, the perceived effectiveness of security measures is sometimes different from the actual security provided by those measures.

The presence of security protections may even be taken for the safety itself. For example, two computer security programs could be interfering with each other and even canceling each other’s effect, while the owner believes s/he is getting double the protection.

Security Theater is a critical term for deployment of measures primarily aimed at raising subjective security without a genuine or commensurate concern for the effects of that action on real safety. For example, some consider the screening of airline passengers based on static databases to have been Security Theater and the Computer Assisted Passenger Prescreening System to have created a decrease in objective security.

Perception of security can increase objective security when it affects or deters malicious behavior, as with visual signs of security protections, such as video surveillance, alarm systems in a home, or an anti-theft system in a car such as a Vehicle tracking system or warning sign. Since some intruders or meddlers will decide not to attempt to break into such areas or vehicles, there can be less damage to windows in addition to protection of valuable objects inside. Without such advertisement an intruder might, for example, approach a car, break the window, and then flee in response to an alarm being triggered.

Either way, perhaps the car itself and the objects inside aren’t stolen, but with perceived security even the windows of the car have a lower chance of being damaged. Stability may refer to mathematics. Stability theory, the study of the stability of solutions to differential equations and dynamical systems

  • Asymptotic stability.
  • Linear stability.
  • Lyapunov stability.
  • Orbital stability.
  • Structural stability.
  • Stability (probability), a property of probability distributions.
  • Stability (learning theory), a property of machine learning algorithms.
  • Stability, a property of sorting algorithms.
  • Numerical stability, a property of numerical algorithms which describes how errors in the input data propagate through the algorithm.
  • Stability radius, a property of continuous polynomial functions.
  • Stability theory, concerned with the notion of stability in model theory.
  • Stability, a property of points in geometric invariant theory.

In our life the two factors are nearly everyone. The absent of both factors or one of the two in our daily activities is have an effect on us therefore Millennium Development Goals were the eight international development goals that had been established following the Millennium  Summit of United Nations in 2000, following the adoption of the United Nations Millennium Declaration. All 189 UN member states at that time and at least 22 international organization, committed to help achieve the following Millennium Development Goals:

  1. To eradicate extreme poverty and hunger.
  2. To achieve universal primary education.
  3. To promote gender equality and empower women.
  4. To reduce child mortality.
  5. To improve maternal health.
  6. To combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases.
  7. To ensure environmental sustainability.
  8. To develop a global partnership for development.

Education can help lift people out of poverty. An education opens doors to jobs and credit. One year of schooling can increase a person’s earnings by 10%; each additional year of schooling can lift average annual GDP by 0.37%. Greater equity in education can help fuel a virtuous cycle of increased growth and accelerated poverty reduction, with benefits for the poor and for society as a whole.

Education equips people with the knowledge and skills they need to increase income and expand employment opportunities. When education is broadly shared and reaches the poor, women and marginalized groups, it holds out the prospect that economic growth will be broadly shared. On the other hand, poverty pushes children out of school and into work because parents cannot afford to educate their children.

South Sudan Country, critics of the MDGs complained of a lack of analysis and justification behind many goals, while objectives and the difficulty or lack of measurement for some goals and uneven progress, among others. Although developed countries aid for achieving the MDGs rose during the challenge period, more than half went for debt relief and much of the remainder going towards natural disaster relief and military aid, rather than further development.

Finally, it’s a South Sudanese leaders concerns in the country to adopt the first Millennium Development goal to eradicate extreme poverty and hunger, to achieve it, is require their collective effort or attempt to provide security and stability all over the country. If we could have afford such inspection since we could have achieve the best in South Sudan Capital City.

As part of its new “Consent to Inspect” program, authorities in Juba, the Capital City, want residents to open their doors so they can come and inspect for illegal guns without a warrant. The effort is part of a new push to help get firearms off the streets, houses in the town that has suffered an uptick in homicides this year. South Sudan Defense Minister and his colleague interior Minister as well as SPLA chief of staff, and Police Inspector feels that gun violence is a disease and their new program, which asks local residents to allow officers to come by and search for firearms and even modified toy guns, is a step to a cure deserved to be appreciated.
