The Provisions of Human Services and Roles of Social Work in South Sudan

January 19, 2017 (SSB) — The roles of Social work Services are those of the most services ever needed in South Sudan. What the service delivery system does in functional to help vulnerable groups in South Sudan? From the social work services concepts, and psychological perspectives of serving humanity, Social workers are practitioners as people who acquired knowledge and skills on the field of helping professional, trained, and learning many concepts, perceptions, methods, theories, principles, and types of social work to assist other enhance their well-being.
Therefore, social workers are also licenced professionals who graduated with bachelors, masters, and PhD in social work fields and department of Social work from different universities and their aim is to assist for well-being of individuals and communities to copy up with their situation and help them change their own environment and realise their importance in the communities.
Above the list of the responsibilities of social workers, human services, and social work as a field are interchangeable in different fields of serving humanity, but the tasks of social workers careers are categorized into two major parts: Part 1, are: Community organization, mental health/clinical social work, international social work, management, administration, policy and planning, politics, and research. Part 2: Social work in school, substance abuse and drugs addictions, aging, child abuse/ welfare, public welfare, justice/corrections, developmental disabilities, employment/occupational social work, and Health Care.
In South Sudan, ninety five percent, (95%) of the nation population are war affected victims with many war hazards such as, manmade disaster like war impacts, natural disaster like flood displacement, post war trauma, war crisis and memories, guns pollutions, situational trauma, environmental trauma, family dysfunctional, alcoholic, drug abuse or drug addiction, child abuse, death, unemployment, divorce, and polygamy, mental disorder, mental stress, nightmare, spirit insecure, head injured, poverty, HIV/AIDS, rapes, street children, child home parent, job dissatisfaction, woman head family, and terrible epidemic diseases like Ebola, bird flow, etc.
The other factors are physical abuses, sexual abuse or sexual exploitation, language abuse, or verbal abuse, emotional abuse, hate speeches, beating/torture, intimidations, corruption, nepotism, poor performance of pupils from schools, spirit of unconcern, pride, families disagreements/disappointments, disunity and suicide commissions. All the above factors overwhelmingly swallowed South Sudanese behaviours, personalities, and characters in not to pursue their social contacts and development.
Therefore, the huge numbers of these social and mental health problems need social work services, and social workers attention to reduce high expectation of people negativity in South Sudan through National Associations of Social Workers, and Community Organizations if we have number of social workers in the country.
Social work or social service delivery is the transfers of goods, and services from one source to another whether being assistant from government institutions, national organizations, private sectors or from the producer to consumer like provision of school, or hospital to the community. For example, all things which are made by human being under the sun like aeroplane, chips, roads and transports, hospitals, education/schools, banks, etc are made to serve local people needs.
The organizational arrangement among contributors to consumers of social welfare benefits-in context of the community, (Gilbert & Teorell 1998). The functional to help the community are programs provide for welfare of people in: (a), family counselling, (b), Urban planning, and (c), vocational rehabilitations. I think South Sudan is the most in need in this area.
On the clientele beneficiaries, the types of populations its serve and to provide services are organizations mandated to deliver services as tasked by public agencies, the private agencies, and the private not – profit agencies. The field of services are also different areas of social work practices such as:
- Social work in criminal justice, rule of law, and social equality.
- Social work in child welfare, gender and equity and community services.
- Social work in education/schools, and hospitals.
- Social work in children, families, minorities, elderly/disables, and homeless.
- Social work in prisons, police, and army.
- Social work in solution of mass problems.
- Social work in influencing institutions, polices, and practices.
- Social work in collection of resources, redistribution of powers, and human resources, and allocations of resources.
- Social work in urban and rural areas from the formal and informal settings.
- Social work in global and domestic issues, cross-cultural differences, and ethical responsibilities etc.
And my question is, do you have a social work service or social worker in the above fields for serving humanity in South Sudan? Therefore, from analytical and personalized project, the strategies for searching community underground, potential system of helping vulnerabilities with provision of services as to be put it alive or step by step in the country.
However, South Sudan, a nation devastated for more than four decades needs qualified persons for social work services, and social workers to helping individuals, families, groups of disabilities, children, and communities enhance their well-being.
Moreover, multidisciplinary teams of social workers are supposed to assist South Sudan as a nation in the field of human services such as national police, national security, military/army, prison, and in different ministries so that to rehabilitate South Sudan physically, mentally, economically, socially, and culturally to become truly one people, one nation because we are enslaved by social problems in the country for very long time.
