Trends of death in 11 counties of Jonglei state in 2012 and 2013

February 27, 2017 (SSB) — The office of the governor of Jonglei State H.E. Philip Aguer Panyang Jot has released the Security summary of 2012 and 2013 compiled by the minister for local government and law enforcement of Jonglei state government.
The insurgencies occurred when Gen. Kuol Manyang Juuk was the governor of Jonglei state. Gen Kuol at his capacity as governor organized a peace conference in which the 6 paramount chiefs of the then Jonglei state communities signed a peace agreement at Bor freedom square witnessed by the president of the republic of South Sudan Salva Kiir Mayardit in 2012.
Of recent the government of Jonglei state has been appealing to Buma state government and local authorities and the United Nation Mission in South Sudan. This call resulted into peace conference convened in Pibor and both government of Jonglei and that of Boma resulted into peace agreement signed by all the stakeholders.
Please find below the summary of children abducted, people killed, people wounded and livestock raided in 2012 and 2013 in 11 counties of Jonglei state before the state was divided into 6 states.

559 people killed, 306 people wounded, 123 57,945 cows and 1007 goats raided in Akobo, Ayod, Bor, Duk, Fangak, Nyirol, Pibor, Pigi, Pochala, Twic East, Uror.
Meanwhile the summary of the year 2013 is:
379 people killed, 196 people wounded, 37 children abducted, 18,565 cows raided
The government of Jonglei state has been releasing the data as a call for action from the international community and transitional government of national unity and peace partners to mitigate prolonged conflict that has existed for 150 years between the Murle and Dinka.
