March 10, 2017 (SSB) — The governor of Jonglei State H.E. Philip Aguer Panyang has addressed the national prayers day dedicated to peace, reconciliation and forgiveness in Jonglei State.

The day was decreed by the president of the republic of South Sudan general Salva Kiir Mayardit that all the people of south Sudan have to pray for peace unity reconciliation and forgiveness across the country.

Addressing hundreds of people at Bor Freedom Square, Governor Philip says South Sudanese must kneel down and pray before God for forgiveness and courage to unite and build a stronger nation.

“If we don’t forgive ourselves then God will not forgive us. So today as the governor of Jonglei state , I pray to God to forgive me as Aguer and as leader of Jonglei this year and I call upon God to give us power to unit ourselves and power to unite with our neighbors,” He says.

The governor also quote a verse in the Bible read from the book of Psalm 125: It reads.

A Song of degrees: They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abides forever. As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the LORD is round about his people from henceforth even forever.

For the rod of the wicked shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous; lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity  Do good, O LORD, unto those that be good, and to them that are upright in their hearts.

As for such as turn aside unto their crooked ways, the LORD shall lead them forth with the workers of iniquity: but peace shall be upon Israel.

Governor Philip concluded that “We believe God will forgives us and be encouraged that peace will be upon the people of Jonglei State and South Sudan as whole. May God bless you and the republic of South Sudan.
