Kerbino Wol: The young and visionary South Sudan's exceptional youth leader

April 28, 2017 (SSB) — The above titled is a dedication to a friend of mine who since his childhood dedicated his life to serving his Country South Sudan. Am inspired by his intelligence, courage, and commitment along with many other South Sudanese who fought for independent. Am writing this article to share with you, the readers about a young man I know someday might do great things. It takes a person with an idea to change the lives of the next generation, I have worked and lived with this guy.
With ultimate devotion, this young man has fought on many fronts during the liberation struggle and continue with the same enthusiasm to date. Having served in South Sudan guerrilla army during the post-CPA period, .He left when he realized he could serve his country somewhere rather than in uniform, and established a successful Security company, Kass Security that has so far employed over 2,000 South Sudanese men and women while providing alternative security details to high-value foreign delegations. He is not a typical South Sudan businessman but a local guy who has globalized his company with presence in Kenya, Mauritius and The DR Congo as well as powerful connection to some biggest industries in the world.
Kerbino Wol, An Athletic, tall, chesty, calm but firm and polite guy who could be one of the few living bosses with high regards and respect towards his employees and everyone around him. He hangs out with those in the high caliber and those also taking tea at under the trees. Kerbino grew up from a humble background to the helm of entrepreneurship in South Sudan. Having employed foreign employees, he always attributed his success to his employees from over the world. He is organized from the top to bottom.
And just on Wednesday evening, while watching News on SSBC, I saw him, this time he’s giving back to his people especially the youth. He appeared in the news after he donated balls to South Sudan national team, Bright Stars.
The donation was done through his new organization, The Nile Foundation which he said is directly funded with 10% from his company profits. This is one of the many different kinds of support Kerbino has been giving back to the communities, and has done so much before he could launch the Nile Foundation. His charitable hand has assisted many families throughout the four years conflict.
I remember when he visited one of his staff’s wife who had just delivered at El Sahabah Children Hospital in 2015, Kerbino after seeing the unbearable situation, he registered all the women with their children and went to Konyo Konyo market and loaded a truck with food stuff including milk and supplied them to the hospital himself.
He also supplied some families (IDPs) at UNMISS compound with food items in Juba and that charity does not stop there, his contractor and laborers constructing his house in Juba are IDPs who works during the day and go back to UNMISS in the evening with full-time security guaranteed.
Kerbino also offers Go back to school program in his company which has benefited many employees with over 46 stuff currently receiving their salaries while in school within and abroad. Something that many workers with companies in Juba pray for.
His nationalism and patriotism is manifested in his way of doing business. He is the true face of South Sudan visionary youth .Though, he doesn’t like politics, he is always concerned about the future of South Sudan especially with youth that is politicized and divided.
He believes in the nationalism of those of Nelson Mandela of South Africa and Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castro, I once argued with him about current affairs and South Sudanese hostility toward the West, instantly replying “let put our house in order then to blame others”, a point that shut me down. This week again he came out to walk the talk of youth empowerment.
Government always talk and talk and will never deliver but Kerbino will go the extra mile to extend a helping hand to others. I believe with his organization, he will help many of our youth who are willing to learn and grow by developing themselves through opportunities that Kerbino may offer to them.
May he continue with the same spirit.
