The Christmas Message: The greatest gift to all Mankind: The birth of Jesus Christ

December 25, 2017 (SSB) — The birth of Jesus Christ was narrated in (Mt 1:18-25; Lk 2: 1-20) and has become the well-known religious story of Christian history as Christmas story birth of Jesus Christ. The story birth of Jesus Christ our Lord is a spiritual celebration; it is a spiritual living and a true meditation on Christian’s faith. There is the number of importance essences of Christmas celebrations.
- The Purpose of Christmas preparation and celebration.
Preparation for Christmas in few days ahead of us in South Sudan can be a lot of works, but as true Christmas, we get our hearts open to God. The first purpose of Christmas is pure celebrations compare to what we learnt from the angel’s opening statement to the shepherds of Bethlem or Bethlehem. God had wonderful news for us to rejoice, celebrate, and this is an opening statement of the angel to us that, “I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people”, (Lk 2:10). And the centre of Christmas is the entire reason for the love of God.
- How should we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ?
I think people make plenty of decorations to celebrate but the real celebration for the good Christians men and women are to rejoice in their hearts that Christ was born to save them and that I am a sinner and a sinner need the saviour. With joyous news from our hearts, we lit candles in our spirit, in our soul, and on our mind to remind us that Christ Jesus is the light of the world, (John 1:4-9) and to remember star that led elders to Bethlehem and how they exchanged gifts to remind us of the gift of Jesus Christ, the greatest gift of God to mankind.
- How Christmas does affect us today?
We are spiritually and physically blessed. The truths about Christmas celebration took the innocent sacrifice of God’s son Jesus Christ paid sins of mankind. Jesus came to live on earth a sinless life and died on the cross in place of all sinners.
The Christmas story affect us today as Christians because this tell us that miracle of Jesus birth; that God became a man like us, to fulfil how God created us in his likeness, but yet He is still God to teaches us humility that He chose to be born as a man, living in poverty like us, allow himself to be tortured by man and He denies himself rights as God’s son, (Philippians chapter 2 in New Testament). Apart from the spiritual side, the birth of Christ becomes negative if we base our hope on materials. It can causes tensions and quarrels among families.
Men and women urge so much when it comes to issues of decorations and flesh well wishes, but spiritual part is our key role as Christians to play our Christian image better than the physical part.
- The messages on the birth of Jesus Christ
In Christmas messages, God made him (Christ) attributes of a strong life in mankind. Theologians called it an (incarnation) God became flesh. Luke: 1-20, “A saviour is born! Glory to God and Peace to man” Before his birth, a prophet testified that “the child to be born will be called Holy- the son of God, Luke 1:26-38.
From the little Bethlehem will come a Ruler in Israel, Micah 5:1-5; the word was made flesh, John 1:1-18; God has sent His servant to bless you, Act 3:22-26; A burning witness to the light, John 1: 6-8; Triumphant light, John 1: 1-5; Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, Timothy 1:12-17. Finally, God is most glorified in us when we are satisfied in him.
