South Sudan: The time for peace to come is now

February 2, 2018 (SSB) — To you and your colleagues, the estranged groups: The time is now and not any day later to give peace a chance. Enough is enough! What is it costing you for peace to come? If it is money, it is left to you; everything in South Sudan is yours including our dear lives.
That the dawn will come rests solely on your shoulders. The tribes have become your political playing cards. Your war has put us in a situation of uncertainty and hopelessness.
You forced us to squeeze ourselves in other people’s homes or tiny Ugandan-like concrete buildings (hotels or lodges) with no ventilation as there is no electricity.
All forms of immoralities which led to the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah are the order of the day. I don’t want to engage these liars who stoop too low to claim innocence and self-righteousness in anything.
Experiences had it that when you live in other people’s home; it is you who bring the dust to the saloon, it is your radio making noise even if you use headphones.
It will always be you who delay in the bathroom or finish the water. It is your voice that is louder when speaking on phone. If the toilet is not flushed or broken, the immediate suspect is you.
The war with its impacts has forced us to conduct ourselves shyly as a bridegroom who lives in the in-laws’ house. The Nilotic in-laws have a special treatment for their son -in law contingent on how the man behaves.
These hard facts are not worth debating only by the naïve. If I keep my cows in the Luak of somebody, they will be the ones that urinate a lot; that cause insecurity to other cows; no matter how humble they may be.
To the Liberators and the satellite party (parties) allied to any of your grouping, please reconsider your positions towards realizing sustainable and durable peace.
Once peace is achieved, the next war will be going to the courts of law with the bearers of these toxic and sophisticated AK-47 light machine guns.
These strong men have occupied others’ homes which they proudly see as a liberation.
I ‘m of the strong suspicion that they must have forged land lease papers with the help of the middle men who say they own Juba until proven otherwise.
