March 14, 2018 (SSB) —- On behalf of the victims of economic crisis, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the President of the Republic of South Sudan H.E 1st Lt Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit for the right decision that he has taken to appoint the right economist Hon. Salvatore Garang Mabiordit in the right place at the right time. The appointment of Salvatore Garang Mabiordit as a minister of finance and economic planning came at the critical time when the suffering citizens are in need of him and it is a final step towards the economic recovery in South Sudan. The president has appointed the long awaited leader whom the suffering citizens were yearning for since the beginning of the economic crisis in the country. His appointment as a minister of finance and economic planning is a milestone in the history of economic development in South Sudan. Hon Salvatore Garang is a really economist who had served in many positions in the field of economic. For example he had served as an undersecretary in the ministry of finance and finally as a technical advisor in the ministry of trade. He is not a new comer but he is an insider who knows what is inside the house. His appointment has given us a hope that every problem has its own solution and from today onwards, we will be in a position to say bye bye to the economic crisis. The economic crisis which started in 2014 has forced all the citizens to lose hope of any future economic improvement. It has resulted in to starvation, displacement, robbery, collapse of the businesses, high rates of school dropout and many other unexpected social problems. The economic crisis negatively impacted all the citizens since it compelled many of them to voluntarily flee to the neighboring countries as refugees and some of them who remained inside the country were in the process of migrating to refugee camps. However, the decision taken by our president to appoint Hon Salvatore Garang Mabiordit as a new minister of finance and economic planning has restored our lost hope. Our president H.E Salva Kiir Mayardit has been sleeplessly and tirelessly working to solve the problem of economic crisis in the country through the application of many formulas that has ended unsuccessful. However the president’s last decision to apply the final successful formula will likely bring the targeted answer. Therefore, we the victims of the economic crisis do strongly appreciate our president H.E Salva Kiir Mayardit for rescuing us through the appointment of Salvatore Garang as a new minister of finance and economic planning. For instance in mathematical calculation if you want to solve the question, you should first apply the first formula. If the first formula fails to bring the correct answer, then apply the second formula. If the second formula also fails then leave the rest of formulas and apply the last one in order to get the correct answer. So the last formula will automatically bring the correct answer. The South Sudan’s economic crisis is a manmade disaster and its solution lies in the hand of a competent, well committed and hard working man like the newly appointed minister of finance Hon Salvatore Garang Mabiordit. We are 100% sure that the year 2018 will mark the final end of economic crisis and it will also mark the significant improvement in the economy of South Sudan. The problem of economic crisis was first seen as uncontrollable but this year our president has found an effective solution to it. Therefore, I am appealing to all the South Sudanese who were uprooted by the economic crisis to return back to their respective houses and totally forget about this hopeless word called economic crisis. I would take this opportunity to reiterate my call on all the youth of South Sudan who were victimized by the economic crisis to engage in agriculture, business and other poverty alienation activities since the problem of economic crisis has been already solved by our president. I would also congratulate Hon Salvatore Garang Mabiordit for winning the trust of the president and on his appointment as a minister of finance and economic planning. I wish him a prosperous period in the office.
