Youth: Leaders of Tomorrow! Why South Sudanese referred to Youth as Leaders of tomorrow? (Part 4)

March 29, 2018 (SSB) — Power and leadership what do they represent in the leadership development? In part one we have discussed youth leadership and why it is referred to young people as leaders of tomorrow? In part two, we have discussed identifying youth leaders by those who are already in leadership and prepared them for future leadership.
And in part three, we also discussed the definition of leaders, and leadership as an opportunity and how to develop young leaders into that leadership, but in part four, we are going to discuss power and leadership on how young leaders are brought up by authorities in power.
For us as South Sudanese youths, what does power means and to those who can develop youths? In worldwide today, the word ‘power ‘is defined in many dimensions. In an organizational behavior management, the word ‘power’ is called and used as a ‘management power’ which is used more than the use of force. It is an influencing other to TRULY WANT to achieve a goal. A planned power simply forces others to achieve a goal.
That is what Dr. John Garang did during the twenty-one years of struggle. He (Garang) made a TRULY WANT youth leaders in the bush to achieve a goal of New Sudan, The Republic of South Sudan today. So do we managed our youths in South Sudan to achieve a goal of what future we want in the country from now up to one hundred years to come?
In our Christian world as a Christian nation, power is referring to a capacity that a person has for influencing the behaviours of others so that people act in accordance with certain wishes and with these dimensional definitions, power is defined in five points as constant definition, and they are; coercive power, reward power, legitimate power, expert power, and referent power. It is much interesting that a question we were asking dealt with what does power means for us today as youths in South Sudan?
These five types of powers originated in personality, and the same people share together with world leadership, and Christian’s leadership but the differences are availing in trait qualities of leadership. Christian’s leaders are spiritually and humbly oriented by the word of God, and the secular leaders end up in searching for materials. Some of the secular leadership depends on world powers, the demonic powers and self-ecstasy. Others are so proud of inability power that perishes at the end of the day with no proper memories and good records.
The word power and leadership is building new leaders in youths and according to Christian definition we are seeing power as an ‘authority’ and the word authority is translated into a ‘Key’. The Greek word for key is ‘Kleis’, a key. The power of the key is a very important example by the doors of our houses, and Jesus Christ, the founder of Christianity defined power as a key.
Jesus said to Apostle Peter, “I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven”, (Mt 16: 19), and authority to forgive and not to forgive”, (Jn 20:22). You know thing get better when Christian leaders with the fear of God lead people. Christians defined power as an ability to get things done, and has the ability to move things toward that future vision.
The Christian leaders really defined what it means by youth leadership as leaders of tomorrow are. The factors of Christian leadership are source blessings of Christian leadership that deliver services to people. You are not a blessing leader if you don’t produce anything to people, and you must be fruitful, or bear new much fruits, that are the goals of every true leader.
Power is given to young people, not taken by force, and if it is given to youths, power becomes more blessings than the curse, because Christian leaders have power given to them by Jesus Christ to discharge his vision.
And a nation South Sudan has a vision, a vision to become a peaceful country, strong in economy, stable in development, advance in technology, create businesses with industries countries, tied bilateral relations with helpful countries, boastful in agriculture, build confident in nationalism, excellent education, adequate health facilities, etc.
So will power and authority of this country be given to young people as leaders of tomorrow and that power and authority be a blessing to people instead of a curse? Therefore, acquaint yourself with domestic qualifications of South Sudan as the youth in the entire country toward tomorrow leadership as leaders of tomorrow in African cultural leadership development context of human diversity.
