March 30, 2018 (SSB) — Sir, in reference to the subject noted above, I must begin with expressing my gratitude to You, Cde. James Wani Igga, H.E. Vice President of the Republic of South Sudan, for being such a good mentor and political father figure to me.

As Rt. Hon. Speaker of NLA, ten years ago you employed me as Director for Legislation and five years later as Press Secretary in your esteemed Office upon assuming this great challenge. I have since learned so much.

I must also make it clear that your leadership style makes the office working environment such an easy place to be in. No one in his right mind would want to leave such a great environment. Furthermore, the group (my colleagues) whom you carefully chosen to be in your Office make that working environment even easier.

Nonetheless, there is always an end to every journey, no matter how enjoyable and productive it may be. Life is full of challenges and opportunities, its natural forward movements dictate that we must look newer ones after learning from current ones.

Ten years as a senior technocrat working with a great revolutionary and ideologue like you ought to be more than sufficient for any open-minded citizen.

I, therefore, make my resignation with immediate effect from March 30, 2018, hoping that your revolutionary commitment to our country may be a positive influence on finding “the path” for which millions have made the ultimate sacrifice.

Considering the level of state collapse, unprecedented destruction of lives and livelihoods, and economic meltdown, I have faith that your experience and goodwill shall be among the few remaining sources of hope in the country.

I wish you divine protection, together with the great men and women who are still laboring inside to find a sustainable solution to our country’s predicament.

Thank you and may the One above who is the source strength bless you and save our bleeding country.

Sincerely,

David Mayen Dengdit,

Press Secretary, of the Vice President, Dr. James Wani Igga
