April 6, 2018 (SSB) — As part of a four-day visit to South Sudan, a delegation of the African Union (AU) Peace and Security Council (AU-PSC) is expected to meet government in Juba this month. The delegation is scheduled to visit the capital Juba from 15-19 April. Joram Biswaro, the African Union (AU) Ambassador to South Sudan, said after meeting President Salva Kiir on Wednesday that the AU body aims to acquaint itself with the situation in South Sudan.

Mr. Edmund Yakani, Executive Director of CEPO says it is encouraging and promising that AU Peace and Security Council is taking the effective role in engaging in South Sudan situation.
The visit of the AU-PSC to Juba for the official meeting with authorities is the clear demonstration of commitment and care for seeing peace prevail in South Sudan. AU-PSC is a machismo that we are expecting a lot from on lobbying our negotiation parties for compromises for the sake of peace and security in South Sudan
It is time for AU-PSC to stand up as a continental instrument that saves its citizens in the continent for ensuring that peace and security is must to prevail. We are expecting strong political engagement between AU-PSC with our warring parties for making the next phase of the HLRF successful.
We are not expecting peace agreement deal for the temporary arrangement, we need peace deal that securing sustainable peace and empower citizens to decide on who should be their leader and representative through ballot box, not the bullet. Mr. Yakani stressed
CEPO is urging AU-PSC should get engaged in handle estrange and the hostile relationship among the political elites that become a strong factor for hindering realization of peace and security timely.
Lobbying for South Sudan negotiating parties to avail the will for accepting the peaceful establishment of their political difference it should be paramount for AU-PSC shuttle diplomacy
Finally, AU-PSC reaches out to other stakeholders such as faith-based, women, youth, private sector and civil society during your visit to Juba.
