April 11, 2018 (SSB) — In a Juba press briefing on Tuesday April 10, 2018, Mr. Ateny Wek Ateny in a matter of bloviation leveled false allegations on General Paul Malong Awan. The document published by both Miraya Radio and Radio Tamazuj carried a number of false allegations ranging from corruption, mastery of impunity, international blacklisting and transactions in the central bank at night.

We disconfirm such false allegations and we urge the public to avoid listening to the falsehood by a leader that has deprived them of their basic necessities.  These allegations serve as manifestations of the fact that President Salva Kiir Mayardit through his spokesperson has been lying to South Sudanese incessantly. It is unfortunate that a man that has been ordering for the murder of his subjects through national security is shifting blames on the obvious.

Where on earth would a Chief of General staff of the armed forces curbs such unlimited powers of taking charge of banks? Blatantly, Kiir and group cannot ascertain this but they are putting it across to cause confusion so as to give themselves time to advance the impunity.

From time to time, the source of impunity is Kiir and he usually likes to trade this on others. When did the chief of General staff of the armed forces become a banker?

Holding the Chairman responsible for the breakdown of the rule of law is a mockery to the informed citizens of the South Sudan. In light of these and if they were to be true, where were the President when General Paul Malong was perpetrating such unethical practices if true?

If the rule of law so claimed was available, how did it allow General Malong to cause its breakdown? If General Malong believes only in violence more than peace, would it hold true that violence was substituted with peace after his removal, detention for several months and the eventual exile? In other words, is peace now prevailing in South Sudan in his absence?

The question of blacklisting is a making of Kiir’s leadership, they frame charges and then send them to the international community for endorsement through the National Security. Acceptly, it was a created barrier and shouldn’t be a reason for peace derailment. General Malong can contribute to peace through roundtable’s talk and so should be incorporated by means of an addendum to allow him sign on behalf of the people’s movement.

We are also refuting and condemning claims that Five (5) million dollars was given to General Malong so as to kill Riek Machar. It is untrue and thus a possible ploy meant to disintegrate the alliance formed by the oppositions against Kiir’s leadership.

You can’t transaction money at night so that you use it to fight the war in the morning that is a misplaced statement manifestly meant to reveal lack of common sense. Is money bullets? For this reason, we urge the public to disregard this as “old wive’s tale”.

It is now apparent that the only raw materials left in the leadership of Kiir Mayardit are wild allegations based on falsehood. However, these are too untrue for public consumption since they are akin to children’s trifles. We should treat this as a fake news uttered by a disillusioned liar.

Instead of bringing non-issues on for discussion, Kiir’s leadership should tell us about strong institutions, better livelihood, development and the rule of law among many others. If such things happened, Kiir should shoulder the blame and hence fit to be charged for sinking the country through incompetency.

If they are continuously murdering innocent citizens, witnessing withered economy and advancing anarchy, then it is unfortunate and we urge them to vacate J1.

In essence, Kiir’s leadership is rotten to the core, falsity is never a service and so South Sudanese shouldn’t be served that way and upon this, we urge Kiir Mayardit to stop covering up for his incompetency, instead he must step down so as to give South Sudanese a space for choosing a leader that would add value to their lives.

Yours in struggle,

Sunday de John, Spokesperson,

SOUTH SUDAN UNITED FRONT/ARMY
