No incentives, no peace, President Kiir says so!

April 28, 2018 (PW) — Do we have a country? This question is what most South Sudanese ask. However, it goes without saying that after long struggle with Khartoum successive regimes under able leadership of Dr. John Garang de Mabior, South Sudanese achieved their lifetime dream.
Through the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA), the Republic of South Sudan was born. That alone created sense of belonging. The entire South Sudan was in awe because the then opppressed were now freed at last.
As if South Sudanese were to embark on establishing schemes so as to create what they would call home, the fateful demise of Dr. John Garang de Mabior happened and thus, a huge vacuum was created and the man trusted to take over couldn’t fill the vacuum because he accepted to take it yet he had motives meant for himself and only himself.
Dr. John Garang de Mabior’s successor in the person of Kiir Mayardit has swayed from the right path since he took over in 2005, this happens due to lack of ideology and the developmental plans meant to steer the country towards development.
He moved from one scandal to the other and in spite of all the support rendered, wealth and freedom he couldn’t create any developmental project or establish any viable institutions. Instead, he incinerated the country with tribal conflicts and economic meltdown. The man has no remorse and does not accept his mistakes.
As if that wasn’t degrading enough, he created war by means of devising dictatorial mechanisms within the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM). He dictated matters in a manner akin to that of a seasoned tyrant. Nevertheless, the bush-hardened tyrant could not mind of what South Sudanese aspirations are.
He could not provide for the basic needs such as running water, electricity or even decent shelter of course after he assumed leadership for over 15 years. As of now South Sudanese still compete with animals for water. They have become too practical that they drink direct from the source.
There is no health system in place, education is a nightmare since there had been no curriculum developed and teachers are the least paid workers in the country at 300 South Sudanese pounds, that is less than one dollar now if the dollar rate doesn’t escalate beyond 320 South Sudanese pounds tomorrow.
South Sudanese have been rendered beggars intentionally by a man regarded mistakenly as a symbol of unity. He turned nepotistic. Calling him tribalist harms the suffering Dinka that he has subjugated and despicably demeaned and maimed with sectional conflicts.
We no longer have clean daughters or sisters, most had gone into commercial sex because of poverty. Our able soldiers are begging on the streets. The orphans are on the streets too and widows are moving naked in search for what orphans would feed on.
The situation has forced our then great soldiers to violent robbers that rob their victims at gunpoint including aid workers. Others have opted to sell their own brothers and family members to rich looters in the name of security. The country is shredded and hopes are shattered.
Salva Kiir Mayardit has emptied the State’s coffers with donations to himself and despite that he still needs incentives. Oil and gold money had all gone to him but he still needs incentives. He has surplus money that he uses to hire goons to kill his fellow statesmen and stateswomen yet children are dying in Juba Teaching Hospital and other hospitals due to lack of oxygen and he says no money to buy it.
While addressing the mourners following the unfortunate death of the able General in the person of James Ajongo Mawut, President Salva Kiir Mayardit rubbed salt into the wounds of the agrieved muorners. He made arguably one of the most dishonourable statements in that gathering.
Instead of comforting orphans, widows and relatives of the fallen colleague with words of encouragement, he depressed them with outright statement that he was not going to support them in anyway since there are so many orphans out there with no support.
As the holder of the mantle, he curves for himself absolute powers that he regrets having not killed fellow liberators. Is there any sense in murdering his own colleagues amongst whom some hold better records than him in the war and political arena? Is that a people’s President? However and in spite of that he still needs incentives.
Had Kiir murdered high profile members of G10, Mama Rebecca and son, Dr. Riek Machar and associates would that have resulted into what? Sustained and destructive anarchy I think. As well, I firmly believe that not even a mad person would find any gratitude in that.
He approved million of dollars for the death scheme of exiled politicians yet the servicemen and servicewomen had gone a way beyond six months without pay. Despite this he still needs incentives. By the way incentive is defined as something that incites or has a tendency to incite to determination or action. Does Kiir needs rewards other than what he is getting from the Presidency? Shame on him.
He outright rejected peace. A peace process that removes him from power doesn’t give him incentives and so must not be signed. By so doing, he wants South Sudanese people to continue suffering as he enjoys puddings. That is the thinking of a man leading a lavish life of a king and who doesn t care about what goes on in the lives of his subjects. Shameless mobster.
Angered by continued opposition, he vowed to crash them. Would the SPLA continue to stand by him yet he is unwilling to care for orphans? Would the SPLA accept to fight for him yet he rendered them sellers of charcoal by not paying them their dues? The deprived army must not stand by a man that only loves himself. He should be given five million dollars incentives for a sending home package. He has outlived his usefulness.
Indeed Salva Kiir Mayardit is a disgrace to South Sudanese people. Now is the time for him to quit. He has maimed people enough and he must go. All the maimed South Sudanese should stand up for this noble cause. Oppressor must go. Till then yours truly Mr. Teetotaler! To be continued.
