President Kiir: Bashir is running away from his own internal political problems

OWINYKIBUL, 9 November 2011 – The President of the Republic and Commander in Chief of the Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) H.E. Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit today said the President of the Republic of Sudan Field Marshal Omer El-Bashir is trying to run away from his own internal political problems by alleging that the SPLA is supporting the Blue Nile and South Kordufan, and is keeping his soldiers away in the battle fields so that they do not turn against him.
President Kiir made the remarks when addressing the 2nd batch of the SPLA officers who spent six months training in basic military and physical training, staff works, military leadership, peacekeeping operations and tactics, and graduated today in Nyachigak Military College in Ownyikibul, Magwi County in Eastern Equatoria State. The training was organized in the framework of transforming the SPLA into a professional Army capable of defending the new state of South Sudan.
President Kiir urged H.E. Bashir to sit down with his people and resolve all the political issues in the North. President Kiir announced that Omer El-Bashir bombed an area in northern Upper Nile called Gufa and killed not less than seven people.
H.E. Kiir congratulated the graduates for having completed the training successfully, and said the graduation of the second batch of the SPLA officers was a starting point of their mission in defending the new state and its constitution from internal and external insurgents.
President of the Republic drastically said the former chairman of UDF who rebelled against the Republic of South Sudan and apprehended recently in Western Equatoria State Mr. Peter Abdulrahman Sule will be properly investigated by the police and will face justice.
H.E Kiir called on the Acholi and Madi ethnic groups not to be driven by the politicians in Juba or EES urging them to discard tribal differences and be united and contribute in building the new nation of South Sudan. H.E Kiir donated 100,000 SSP to the graduates.

On his part the minister for National Security Gen. Oyay Deng Ajak said he is committed to building a strong intelligence and security service organs which will cooperate with South Sudan citizens horizontally and vertically, adding that more national intelligence and security service officers will be recruited. He also called on the graduates to be disciplined.
While the deputy minister for Defense Gen. Majak Agot extended sincere gratitude to the C-IN-C of the SPLA for his personal commitment to transforming the South Sudan Army into a professional one. He urged the graduates to behave responsibly and win the confidence of the people of South Sudan.
The SPLA Chief of General staff Gen. James Oath Mai said the SPLA leadership is committed and will continue to improve the capacity of the SPLA and make it vigilant in facing and dealing with internal and external challenges.
