 Press Statement

Yesterday, the NCP planes bombed Pariang in Unity State inside South Sudan. This is the second time for the NCP to violate the air space and to bomb people inside South Sudan in 72 hours.

The allegations that South Sudan is supporting rebels in Southern Blue Nile and Southern Kordofan are baseless. The NCP’s policy of violence, deceit and dishonesty is what caused it to clash with the people of Southern Kordofan and Southern Blue Nile. South Sudan has no role in this conflict at all.

The SPLM position on this is:

1.      The SPLM condemns in unequivocal terms this senseless bombing of innocent people in South Sudan.

2.      The NCP must immediately stop its military aggression and hostile propaganda against the people of South Sudan.

3.      The NCP should seek a peaceful solution to the conflict in Southern Kordofan and Southern Blue Nile.

4.      The NCP government should contact the government of South Sudan for any issues of mutual interest.

5.      The United Nations and the international community should immediately intervene to stop the repeated military aggression on the people of south Sudan.

6.      The United Nations should apply A- no-fly zone between the Republic of South Sudan and the Republic of Sudan.
