Let’s Prove The President Wrong This Time: South Sudanese Women with PhD (or Masters).
South Sudanese Women with PhD (or Masters).
When South Sudanese questioned the President for marrying off his daughter to a foreigner, he demanded to know why they were making noise when none of the young South Sudanese men had come forward to ask his daughter for marriage.
But now it appears it is not only marriageable men who are the endangered species in South Sudan. According to President Kiir, there are also not enough qualified women for ambassadorial positions. During the swearing in ceremony of the recently appointed South Sudanese Ambassadors, President Kiir claimed that there were not enough qualified South Sudanese women to take up the constitutionally mandated 25% of the ambassadorial positions:
“President Salva Kiir Mayardit confessed, he was unable to find enough women to fill the gap among the new ambassadors. He repeated the commitment of the SPLM to empower women.”
That statement from the President is highly misplaced because South Sudan has a good number of women with PhD to fill the required 25%. For example, we have:
Dr. Julia Aker Dwany, Dr. Laura Nyantung Ahang, Dr. Pauline Riak, Dr. Jane Edward, Dr. Salwa Beriberi, etc
Please add any name of a South Sudanese female with either a PhD or Masters (with the school if possible).
Thanks,
PaanLuel Wel.
