Khartoum’s Economy Struggling to Survive After South Sudan Took the Oil
Sudan's oil economy goes south Khartoum faces economic challenges after losing numerous oil wells to South Sudan in secession. Sudan's president has said that unless ongoing border fighting with South Sudan is resolved, there will be no negotiations on oil or trade. Tension has been high since South Sudan gained independence from Sudan in July 2011.
