Let’s Remember the Heroes as We Celebrate One Year Anniversary
By Abraham Garang
As we celebrate 1 year anniversary, let’s bear in mind those who gave their precious life for this special day to all South & North Sudanese, and friends of two Sudan. More than 2.5 million lives perished for this day to come last year. These millions perished through military confrontation, insufficient food or lack of it, insects bit and infections, inadequate water, wild animal attacks, tribal warfare, diseases etc. …
They all paid the ultimate price for 1/9/05 CPA which led to this 7/9/11 Independence. They died so that those who have lived through will see this day. Let’s engrave their names in our heart, roads, building, and everything we have. May we never forget their names, their bloods, and their voices while we are celebrating this day today. Salutes our martyrs and thank them for this day.
And while we celebrate, may we always think of their families, for they are now suffering. Let’s also not forget our brothers and sisters in the other marginalized parts of Sudan for they wish to celebrate with us today too.
We lost fathers, mothers, daughters, sons, cousins, nephews, grandfathers, grandmothers, nieces, uncles and many more in the war of liberation. May their names always be our children’s names; may their voices keep reminding us that there were people here before us; may their shadows always shed over us as a light; may their souls always be guardian angels to our people; may their wishes be fulfilled to the fullest; may our achievement be their success, and may our future always be their long live dreams!
The road ahead will be long! There will be bumps on that road! There will be set back! But let be hopeful that we as people, and great heirs of our martyrs who sacrificed for this day, will get there!
