Opportunities with Chemonics International

Chemonics International, a U.S. based international development consulting firm, is seeking professionals for an anticipated five year USAID-funded project in South Sudan. The project aims to increase equitable education services for children, promote stability, and strengthen the quality and management of the education system. The project design has been driven by Goal 3 of the USAID 2011 Education Strategy to increase equitable access to education in crisis and conflict environments for 15 million learners by 2015. Chemonics is looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world and demonstrate leadership, versatility, and integrity in their work. All positions require fluency in English, experience in fragile and conflicted affected states, and the ability to work and travel throughout South Sudan.

 We are seeking the following long-term positions:

 Alternative Education Specialist(s)

  • Degree in international education, or closely related field
  • Demonstrated experience in rural education, teacher training, and education management
  • Demonstrated knowledge and extensive experience with USAID education programs

Psychosocial Specialist

  • ·         Degree in psychology, behavioral sciences, social work, or closely related field
  • 10 years of demonstrated management experience on donor funded projects
  • Expertise in education, vulnerable populations, refugees, displaced persons, and community reintegration
  • Experience coordinating and liaising with senior government officials, donors, and other key stakeholders in the education sector
  • Demonstrated experience in managing multiple teams in various locations

Community Mobilization Specialist(s)

  • Degree in management, education, communications, or closely related field
  • 10 years of professional experience required in areas including: community development planning; public outreach and analysis of social issues; gender assessments; and community awareness programs
  • Experience in education sector preferred

 Rural Infrastructure Specialist

  • Degree in engineering, or closely related field
  • 10 years of demonstrated management experience on donor funded projects
  • Experience coordinating and liaising with senior government officials, donors, and other key stakeholders in the land, environment, agriculture and associated sectors
  • Demonstrated experience in managing multiple teams in various locations
