Wake Up South Sudanese Citizens
By Nyalueth Lual, Asutralia
How could we turn against ourselves and stay incognizant of the real demons that polarized our society?
The war has now taken it’s toll. I now share a similar story with thousands of Sudanese who are reciting in Diaspora. They are overwhelmed with responsibilities of caring for their family members who have been forced to exile into the neighboring countries only as helpless dependents of their relatives. Even though South had only experienced a benign independence, they were not inclusively depending on us for shelter, food, children’s education and medical expenses as is the case right now.
I also lay in accordance with whoever says that the Diaspora residents are the prime warmongers despite of being equally affected by the recent political turmoil. This is because they have harbored a passive aggression by inciting hostilities. Just like the warring factions, they are motivated by self interest of their political affiliation. They persistently advocate for criminals and non cares about the victims. The civilians have been forgotten by the politicians despite the fact that they were the power that held the key to their positions in the government through their votes. Instead, they chose to pay back by oppressing, defying and disservice their ‘Employer’ the voters.
How could we be easily fooled by them to believe that ‘this war of self interest’ was about our freedom and Democracy and we surely fell for it to divide, hate and kill each other in collective groups. What is so special when the warring factions are merely scrambling over the SPLA/SPLM party while millions dedicated their service free of charge in the name of Freedom for the generations to come? What else was an important agenda about these groups when they have defiled the name of this SPLA/M by not making laws over the past eight years and now have the guts to tell us that there was no constitution? As a matter of fact, they have literary left early before lunch and never come back to do their job. Was it not themselves that held campaigns against corruption when their wealth have exploded overnight far much exceeding what their actual net worthiness could be?
Also by trying to convince us that it was for our own good, why have they not embarked on the real issues that they have ignored for years such as food security through agriculture, health, education etc. They have stolen the public funds to purchase guns and manipulated us that we are now turning these guns towards each other and they justify it as a revolution to protect our dignity. If they care about our dignity, then simple things, just little things such as protecting our land and people from being exploited by foreign oil companies who drill oil wells and pollute the habitat of the natives without compensation or at least educating villagers of possible harms.
Rise up for your rights people. Both factions are the real enemies of democracy. Kiir was the president while Riek was his vice president and the others also held bigger positions. So if any one was to be held responsible to solve issues pertaining this conflict before hand, it should be them who instead have been driven by greed.
