In depth of illiteracy

By Dut Lual Anei

Illiteracy can refer not only to the inability to read but also to a lack of knowledge in other subject areas or lack of ability (especially mental ability) to do something. Ensuring a high level of reading literacy has become a priority of many governments around the world.

However, what is often forgotten is that there is more than one type of illiteracy, and not all are addressed during formal education. Many of these can be just as debilitating as an inability to read, but go unnoticed because the wider community is unaware of their existence.

A few, such as scientific, critical, cultural, emotional and functional illiteracy, have even resulted in death for some unfortunate people. These are global problems because adults generally express some degree of at least one.

In reference to the south Sudan as a nation with diversity of tribes with many traditions and cultures, the allusion of illiteracy as above is a delicate topic to comprehend because it’s either affect directly or indirectly. Why illiteracy? The said civilization which many western countries are assumed to be leading the campaign is enshrine in the education as a factor to knowing it in details.

Many parts of the former southern Sudan and the presence nation of South Sudan were under a massive marginalization and isolation from going to schools and even excess to towns and therefore many were compelled to remain illiterates as there was no alternative to the oppressive regimes which couldn’t invest in the manpower of the civil population till a light was missed.

Nonetheless, something restricted and claimed confidential is what the conscious people always seek to know and here, the presence percentage of the educated was drive out of hate and mistreatment, what of now?, the choice to see blackboard or remain backdoor is a decision of your own if nothing necessitates it .

The other critical elucidation of who can be civilize?, is still lying within the context of your own culture since anybody can be civilize within his or her own culture provide it’s not a copy and paste. Leadership which in my own view is the capacity and the will to rally men and women to a common purpose and the character which inspires confidence was a tyrannical one which isolates people by power according to various Khartoum based regimes.

Forgive but don’t forget is a lesson from this act and anybody who will fight a war of hunger games will be the ill-advised fellow and the right to seek, fight and enjoy your privileges will never hold any water if you have a mask of illiteracy.

Decades will not be counted to justify that you have right to be without even basic education, many problems affecting our country are factual brought by this trauma which even can be pass to next generation like tribalism, nepotism, corruption combined altogether into disunity if we don’t accept the responsibility to be ourselves to solve our own issues.

Many dooms have emerged from tribal base to championed the campaign for massive illiteracy and other forms of biases which will never bring us together because the few who are seen as drivers of their own backgrounds are affected by interests, self esteem and mushrooming of many associations, parties and other projects engineered to install the pandemic of disunity all across.

Illiteracy is the mother of all these, why is it that, there is no inter-communal fights in many developing countries? This is so, because everybody is busy going to school, working and making oneself survive but here is a war of cattle raiding, rebelling, corruption, whether it’s political or social, all mean the same.

Education is the vaccine for all the above, decide and do what favors you.
