Is this the beginning of seriousness for the Bor county Community in the USA?
By James Maluak Malou, USA
May 21, 2015 (SSB) —- I think my question may demand an explanation. To begin with, when the members of Bor South community converged to the City of Dallas Texas USA on thanksgivings day in 2006 each one of these members was hoping for better meeting and cooperation. Many members of the community were very excited and with more expectations to do big things for their community. There was no one who spearheads these big ideas than the leader of the county at the time, Daniel Leek Geu.
Many people who were in that meeting may agree with me on this. When he projected his power points in front of the members, many people were impressed. Some of his ideas were long terms but some were doable starting from that date if we would have put our support behind him, he would make break through, but due to graduates of disruption, “we will bring it down” (Abu Riok in Dinka dialect), Leek Geu was not able to do much as he planned.
Thank God Leek Geu didn’t give in to them but the damaged was done. When these few individuals work hard to bring down the system, the other majority of us didn’t confront them but withdraw and watched which I term as luck of seriousness. IF Leek would have got the support he needs, it could have made it easy for Mabior Aciek Chau when he took over the leadership of the county in 2011. It is time now to defend what we believe.
The candidates who are running this year for the Bor County leadership have to be applauded for their interest. They have travelled across United States of America to talk to the community. That is a step forward. There is no doubt in my mind that, these individuals have committed their time, money and given up other commitments to their families to do these. With intensity shown by our three brothers and their spouses on advancement of our community, let start to be serious about our community affairs and there is no better time than now.
We have young families who are growing, need our support as a community in the USA, and a country in Civil war; as a result, we have a community who need our support back home too. For those who always work for downfalls, do the opposite this time.
This is going to be one of the most heated contests, the realty will come down to this, one out of these three candidates will be the leader and other two may come back to the community as regular members. I am appealing to the candidates who may not win to be good members of the community and support your community as you used to. To all the members of our community, once the results are announced on Sunday, May 24th 2015, we are one community, not supporters of anyone but supporting one system, the leadership of Bor County USA.
Since I am with GBC-USA Leadership, Let me pre-empt to answer to those who may ask about my opinion or thought on the position of these three candidates toward the union of GBC-USA. This is for you, those who have asked already or thinking about asking, it does not bother me what the candidate think of our union, if the community members believe in our union, they will ask candidates before they elect them. This is true also to Duk and Twi County not for Bor County members alone. This union is for the people and people will defend it.
According to my projection, this year election for Bor County will be the most attended compare to the last two elections, please utilize this opportunity to educate our community about the needs and opportunities of working together.
I wish my friend Ngor Biar Deng a best of Luck in his wedding and all GBC-Members who may be travelling to Des Moines IA for these two events have a safe journey.
Yours,
James Maluak Malou.
