South Sudan, The Testing Ground: The Two Military Giants Robbed Its Peace

By Kur Wel Kur, Australia bombers

May 29, 2015 (SSB)  —  In last couple of weeks, the main lifeline of the South Sudan’s economy, the oil drilling at Paloch fell in line with rebels’ attacks on government strategic towns. South Sudanese from within South Sudan panicked because news of Malakal flooded the population.

The fear was valid because defections after militarisation are harmful to our security. Olony waited until he was armed to the teeth, and then he defected, believing that, with the latest tanks and ships, he would derail the administration of Salva Kiir.

However, he forgot that the oil production at Paloch is not running because of military might of Salva Kiir but it does because of the second military giant, China. The SPLA crushed Olony’s rebellion in days because of air support. The ferries convoy ended up in a blasting furnace. Olony is now on the run with negligible options or no options at all.

We -the government supporters- celebrated Olony’s defeat and recapturing of Malakal city. We flooded our friends on Facebook and on Twitter with encouraging news of another victory   and discouraged the active and passive supporters of all rebels in South Sudan with reasons why rebels can’t win militarily.

However, we (government supporters) must also understand that the government can’t win the war militarily either because the war is not our war.

You can read on…. to know whose war is South Sudan’s war.

The arms race of super powers.

Surely, attaining the total world peace will mean no more production and importation of guns, tanks, armoured vehicles, war ships and war jets. The super powers spend billions of dollars on military advancements and intelligence, spying on one another and on other nations.

The number one military giant, US, spent a staggering amount of 682 billion on military. This quote confirms it: “The U.S. military budget is higher than the nine other biggest military budgets in the World combined.” And during the third US presidential debate, Barrack Obama confirmed it, in answering the Mitt Romney’s military concerns.

With this gigantic security budget, super powers dress in Dai Lama’s clothes to preach peace in the third world while in the real sense, they stir up violence among different communities in the third world and Middle East countries in order to rob them of their resources.

Dirty politics of US in Syria, Libya, Iraq and Afghanistan.

While, the top 10 list of world most powerful military countries is disputed in determining which country comes after which country, three countries remain undisputed military giants in the world today. Their involvements in any country will mean instability and suffering to that country. The top three super powers:

The unhealthy competition of the top three super powers (USA, China and Russia) is changing the modern politics in many ways:

Apart from their humongous budget on military improvements, we witnessed their arm race in Syria. Assad relaxes today in his presidential palace because of China and Russia. In fact, war in Syria drifted out of US radar because a more inhumane and more threatening group, ISIL (Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant) emerged. Assad and his leadership survived because the war in Syria did not belong to him.

The unprotected: Libya, Iraq and Afghanistan.

Another example of unhealthy competition of top super powers: France, Britain and United States extinguished the blinking light of Africa, Libya, just in days because the US tricked China and Russia into signing the false no-fly zone over Libya.

However, US military super jets watered Gaddafi’s government strongholds with missiles. The fall of Gaddafi and Libya taught China and Russia about the dirty competition of US. They (China and Russia) avoided making the same mistake in Assad and Syria’s case.

Iraqis, Libyans and Afghans harvested no luck so the US and her allies bulldozed developments and hopes in the three countries. Stability is a far reaching dream; so their streets become oasis of blood, which suicide bombers spill every week so dogs lick human’s blood in mosques, markets and malls, and members of one clan can any time oblige themselves to cause uneasiness in these countries.

The same populations, which booed the three leaders out of leaderships and out of life in case of Sadam and Gaddafi, are crying for their lives and those of their children. They want their leaders back. But too late!

Proxy war in South Sudan: Whose war is it?

Proxy wars are not new, we saw them in countries like Afghanistan where US and Soviet Union (controlled by Russia) locked horns, in Germany where the ideas of Capitalism versus ideas of Communism grilled in local populations so a great wall of Berlin split the city in halves for the experimentation of two ideas [capitalism and communism], and finally in Syria, the economical hub of Russia.

Proxy: A war of ideas to win the influencers in that country so whoever among super powers whose ideas take roots in the hearts of influencers {big or smart tribes, religious groups or political parties} assume the rights of exploiting the resources of that country. The economical dealings with China caused our war.

We cry,

As we fry,

Ourselves in the civil war.

But the super powers (US and China) will remain the main suspects.

In another article, I cited examples why no one cares about the deaths of poor people. People can either be poor in knowledge or they can be poor in resources.

In either stance, the intelligent and the powerful in this “corporate world”, inflict suffering on innocent population. The civil war in South Sudan is more dangerous to South Sudanese but it also has a potential of exploding into a bigger war.

A world war can hatch out of it because China is craving for energy to fuel its production: from production of sauce pan to production of military gears. So denying her from importing South Sudan’s oil is a fatal decision.

My final remarks in this article

My message to the warring parties and their supporters, we are much bitter to the extent of coveting an atomic bomb to wipe each other out. I swear, some evil minded criminals are yearning for weapons of mass destruction but the truth remain, our collective strength is stronger than our individual strength (insert: tribes versus a tribe).

We must find ways of solving issues, which caused this war. The gullibility, impatience and greed must die in some politicians especially Dr. Riek for peace to germinate in South Sudan. “Exceptional leaders sometimes have to settle for less” for the love of their citizens.

Dr. Riek has to save Nuers and South Sudan for him to rule, otherwise he will rot in exile and the Nuers will finish. Don’t take advice from any super power because you will fail again. No tribe must invest in a suicidal mission of fighting the government because the government uses a country resources (your brothers included) to crush any rebellion.

Be wise, act wise, lay down your arms and come home. You will be welcomed.
