Political Fragmentation of the Upper Nile Region

June 1, 2015 (SSB) —  Truly, since the independence of South Sudan 2011, few leaders of South Sudan’s two regions have organized themselves and aimed for the development of their region. Whereas, the Leaders of Upper Nile Region mostly from Dinka, Nuer, Shilluk, Murle, Anyuak, Jie, Kachipo and Maban left behind but engaged in fighting for negative things, which make their kids left behind in education and positive activities.

Presently, in terms of the economic development and human recognition in South Sudan, leaders of Greater Bahr el Ghazel region and Greater Equatoria Region were doing generous and success. Whereas in great Upper Nile Region, none. they need to do something to our region, they need Regional reconciliation, work together as one community, brothers and sisters rather than relay on the president to do something better for them.

Indeed, in the real life, Hatred has nowhere to be found but when people are united, the global poverty, and political corruption, excessive greedy and environmental problems should be fixed and end.

Missed issue in the Upper Nile Region

Well, as we know in South Sudan history, we have three Regions namely; Great Equatoria region, Great Bahr-el Ghazal region, great Upper Nile Region. However, among these three regions, three States of the Great Equatoria Region have one youth association, which is Great Equatoria Youth Association for development. Second, four States of the Bahr-el Ghazal Region have Great Bahr-el Ghazal Youth Association for Development, whereas in Upper Nile region, we have none. What is behind this?

Second, every year, the Governors of the Greater Equatorian Region and the Bahr el Ghazal region always have a regional meeting to solve their political, economy and security issued. Question, why don’t Upper Nile Region do the same thing? Second, are we late to form the Great Upper Youth Association for Development after the Peace? Is Upper Nile Region’s governors late to reconcile after the Peace? I think, we are not. Brothers and sisters, I know one may said, what the heck he talked about?

Truly, if we continue being used by the other politicians to killing ourselves, the Upper Nile Region population is going to shrink forever. Second, the big Issue is, if we continued being used, “The Upper Nile region will not going to win in any presidential democracy election until 50 years.

I said that because due to this politics, I know if one candidate come from either Twic East County, Bor County, Duk County or other counties from Nuer, Shilluk, Murle, Maband, Jie, and Kacipo, one may said, I will not vote for him/her because he/she is from other area.

However, this fragmentation is not going to benefit the region. For my point, I wish, after the peace, “We should reconcile and forgive whatever happened in past such as 1991 and 2013 massacred.”

Looked, on my side, I’m the Victim of 1991 because I have lose one my parents (mom) but since I know that she is not going to come back, it is better to make a national and regional reconciliation, United and safe our next generation. NB: the More the Youths in the Nation are United, the More the stability of the country is stable.

Well, as asked above, are we too late to form the Great Upper Youth Association for development after the Peace? Is governors late to reconcile? Is other senators, churches leaders, and local chiefs late to reconcile? No, No. we are not late. This is a campaign messaged to the Great Upper Nile Region’s resident in South Sudan and Diaspora.

One more, Brothers and sisters, looked at this good thing, in May 12, 2013, the Great Bahr el ghazel Region, has called “All the intellectuals and senior political leaders to report themselves to Wau, the former regional capital and current state capital of Western Bahr el Ghazal, to discuss challenges facing the region and the country (Sudan tribune).

Indeed, this conference was attend by the Great Bahr el ghazel Region Governors, including president Kiir. In their platform, they were discussing the politics, security and economy of the country as well. What did the Great Upper Nile Region’s intellectuals and senior political leader meet?

Well, to be very clear with my point of argument, I’m not against other regional Unity, but what I need is that let do the same Unity they have, from all of us, regional governors, local chiefs, senators, churches leaders, Youth both men and women from everywhere and shake hand together.

For: Who will called the Upper Nile Region Unity and reconciliation.

Indeed, since we know that kids learned from the parents, I wished, the governors will start followed by elected senators and church leaders from all three states. Finally, when all these leaders draft up their ideas, the youth will called their conference, either in Juba or Malakal. I can’t wait to see this conference happened.

Above and beyond, there is a proverb which said, “A bird is in the air but its mind is on the ground,” this is simply means, wherever you are, it is important to remember where you come from, and do what is most important.

Truly, here in the United States, the suffering of South Sudan people always bothering, even I can’t sleep normally. In addition, when I looked back, it is only the Upper Nile region which caused the mess of South Sudan nation, and this is because our politicians, community leaders, and as well as church leaders has failed to look at this, make a national and regional reconciliation.

Sincerely, good decision and calculation yield better result As seen here: Unity + wise leadership + positive attitude = yield good development, end poverty and corruption.

The point of ego: we are Warriors

This ego, “We are warriors,” take us nowhere but its result into truncated population and causing suffering to innocent people, causing destruction to the properties and finally as well as reducing of economic yield.

Indeed, if a matter of that ego, South Sudanese know how to fight but since we know in the Sudan civil War, The history can tell, who fought and did not fought. However, in the reality, some communities stop fighting it because they know the consequence of the war.
