Warrap for sale
Warrap state gubernatorial post for sale to the highest bidder

June 5, 2015 (SSB)  —    “Warrap youth go to individual leader and told them that they are being sent by the state community to deliver a special message that Warrap community wants this particular intellectual to be the governor. And in return that intellectual will pledge some handouts because they have brought to him good news. And the same group have done that several times,” a source told me.

Some generals in the organized forces have been dragged to politics by the youth with the same message. Most of the generals have thought that if this is a community calls then they can put off their ranks and serve their state.

I was told that a very prominent leader from Warrap state was cheated twice by the group with the same message and he had to give out some heavy bundles (money) each time out of happiness and to reward the loyalty of the group.

The politician waited in vain until a camouflage of the same collection returned but not with the news of appointment. This time they were replicating the same memo for the third time and expected to dash away with some bundles of money a case that did not happen.

The politician gave them some sheets of papers and pens. He instructed the group to register the names of Warrap youth and community members who want him to be a governor; with the condition that the number must not be less than 1000 people. They were to bring back the list with signatures and he would arrange for a public rally to address his supporters. From then the group did not return because it became difficult for them to make a list of 1000 people.

Most of the time, they back up their topic with the failure of the state government. I am not against the fact that they can criticize the leaders in offices like Governor Nyandeng Malek. It can be their right to call for her removal lawfully but not making business outside in the name of Warrap community and Youths. The community is for sure suffering from lack of services delivery but selling the post before dismissing Nyandeng for instant is totally ridiculous. It has no meaning.

In the bush when the leadership of the SPLM had what they called:  Civil Authority for The New Sudan (CANS); politics seemed to had dignity. Politics looked like to have been not street based game like today.

Dr John Garang and his colleagues would decide to appoint who to work under certain responsibilities. Politics was not all about hatred or destruction of peoples’ reputations in contrast to now. During those days leaders were respected and that any appointed member would want to sell their positive visions of the movement.

When the administrations of the liberated areas became unified with those under Khartoum, the SPLM took a lion share in South Sudan and most of the governors were appointed from the SPLM party replacing the National Congress Party’s governors.

And right from that time politics of appointing or removing a governor in Warrap State took to the streets. Ustaz Lewis Anei Kuendit was the first SPLM governor in Warrap state but was unfortunately relieved in a very short time after he successfully relocated the state administration from Wau to Kuacjok.

Gen. Anthony Bol Madut was brought in but with no time he was evicted out in Kuacjok. Nevertheless we saw the NCP turned SPLM Mr. Tor Deng Mawien resuming the post and quickly left the post unwanted.

The realities are that when people are appointed in Warrap some groups begintomorrow to call for removal. Most of the governors were thanklessly removed and left alone however they later climbed their political ladders and got some posts in the national government, Juba.

In 2010 Madam Nyandeng Malek Diliec narrowly managed to get an SPLM ticket to stand for elections and she won the post of being the first woman in the Sudan to be elected to the post of the governor.

It is never bad to get youths being involved in politics but unless they are playing the game well. I am really confused and one doesn’t know who do the youth want to come to take the post?

If I am not wrong majority of our Warrap intellectuals have been talked two since 2013 and beyond about this and the only one topic. Some youth tell politicians that “we are working for you and that our complaints about Nyandeng Malek’s dismissal have reached President Kiir’s office.”

From that time some politicians have remained committed to watching SSTV, listening to radio, reading newspapers of whether one day they will hear about the dismissal of governor Nyandeng and their appointments. However, time went in vain.  But how many people are waiting for that? In fact many! Suppose Nyandeng is sacked she should be replaced by one person not more than that.

The politicians have continued to pour their money to the youths but in reality for no reason there are no appointments coming.

Some leaders have been blindly deceived by this clever group that the communities back home keep on calling for their names so that President Kiir appoints them in the position of Warrap State governor while in reality it is not true.

If it were true that our communities want a certain intellectual to come and lead and that this particular youth group is assigned to deliver the message. Why should the youth go to multiple intellectuals with the same message? How many governors for example will lead Warrap State at a time? We need only one, right? So it should not involve eight or ten.

The truth is that some youths are making business out of lies. When they talk to these individuals about the community calls; they assume of being loyalists and afterward they are being given some financial bundles in return. Some of them have become rich playing the same game while they have turned some people to be enemies for life.

Any person who belongs to Warrap Community should discard this kind of politics of blackmailing our society for personally gains. If one wants help from an individual then you must be courageous and talk so that you are listen to but not in the name of gubernatorial post or lying that the community wants to nominate a person.

For how long shall we stick on politics of lies. This is the time to stop it!
