June 17, 2015 (SSB)  —  The Lost Boys of south Sudan also known as Red army residing in Winnipeg Manitoba, had organized the 32nd anniversary of May 16, 1983 celebration. The red army organized and celebrated it together with the patriotic South Sudanese. Surprisingly, there were some individuals who have image problems with regard to the history of the liberation struggle; these individuals went the other way around and brain washed people in order to miss such an important occasion.

Every South Sudanese in his or her right mind beliefs in the Sudan people liberation army as the key guarantor of comprehensive peace agreement, which allowed the south Sudanese to go for referendum, and broke away from the Sudan successfully. Given that fact, it is easier to admit that our new country’s birth was a result of the consistent military campaign by the Sudan People Liberation army led by Dr. John Garang and President Salva Kiir Mayardit for more than 21 years.

While the militia groups and their psychopathic commanders that included: Riek Machar, Paulino Matip, Ismail Konyi, Alfred Lado, Peter Gadet, Johnson Olony and others, were loyal to Khartoum regime which armed and assigned them to provide the first line of defend “formed by second class citizens “to their Sudanese soldiers against the Sudan people liberation army in the frontlines across South Sudan. Their mission was to destroy our liberation struggle. Their rewards were either empty or limited; these men were driven by personal motives instead of national loyalty.

In spite of interruption, we got our country and all the militia groups were forgiven and integrated in to the Sudan liberation army on goodwill by the president, on condition that they learned from their past mistakes and take advantage of future opportunities “they refused to learn”. Currently, the same militia groups along with their desperate allies in diaspora are cooperating with foreign forces of which they see as champions of some desirable political transformation.

In conclusion, the land of South Sudan and its people were freed and liberated by the blood of fallen heroes, veterans and civilians who gave up their sons and daughters as the ultimate price for our country. Like many other nations on earth, these freedom fighters deserve love, respect and thanks from us and for generations to come.
