Hon. Deng Dau Deng Malek

Member of National Legislative Assembly {NLA}

Constituency No: {12} Twic East of Jonglei State

Juba, South Sudan

Date 20th Oct 2015

Dear Hon. Deng Dau Malek (MP),

RE: Your Statement in Twic East Meeting in Juba {Dated 19th Oct 2015} that “Rebels Choosing rebels”

October 27, 2015 (SSB)  —  As members of your respective Constituency that elected you to represent our constituency in August “NLA” House, we are writing to express our deepest concerns and strongly condemn the recent statement made by your Honorable describing the members of Twic East County in a meeting at General Bior Ajang’s House in Juba on {19th Oct 2015}, as “Rebels Choosing rebels” for the position of Caretaker Governor of newly created Jonglei State.

Hon. Deng Dau, we acknowledge your great contributions you have made throughout the crisis of {15th of Dec 2013}. As well as trusting your commitment to the leadership of our land. However, we felt hold back when we heard of this statement calling the entire community “rebels.” This is one of series of public pronouncements made during the onset of December 2013 political violence as ill-innuendo against your constituency of Twic East which aimed at singling out Twic East sons and daughters abroad and inside the land.

We also recall this unusual and unacceptable statement and its consequence of such declaration of “rebellion”, which could culminate in the incitement of possible violence against the community and her well-being. Therefore;

  1. We strongly demand you to apologize before the community in writing to clear such damaging statement
  2. We encourage harmony and peaceful coexistence among our people at different levels and with the hope that you will support their common objectives
  3. We recognize all members of Twic East County residing in Juba and elsewhere to abide by your democratic rights as an individual. However, you need also to be cognizant of principles of self-expression as laid down in the Transitional Constitution of the Republic of South Sudan 20111 so as not to preach hate speech that could spiral violence and mistrust within our communities. Well-usage of freedom of speech is an ingredient of the democratic society we all envisaged
  4. We also call you not to undermine the genuine role of our elders in Jieng Council by single-handedly attributing yourself the creation of {28} states in the Republic of South Sudan as your sole made and work

Finally, we strongly urge you to eschew any similar statements in the future. Please consider your statement as a negative gesture which could plant hatred among our people and serve to undermine overwhelming support enjoyed by H.E. Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit, the President of the Republic and who is son of Twic East too.

Thank you for your attention. We look forward to your response outlining the action you are going to take. We think this is the best way to approach this vital and sensitive matter.

Signed;

  1. Deng now opens up. This allows him to chew with two cheeks and wanted a third one – Governor of Jonglei.

    1. From politic of lucidity to selves owned victory of interests.
      I am write in contrast to controversial article published in site by youth of Ajuong and Paker that came with an intention of petitioning Hon Deng Dau to apologies to his community on rebellion leveling accusation, I referred them to that taxonomy because of their nomenclature and incase there few identities incorporated, then my judgment was statically based, any way I am not a spoke person for Honorable he will appear to answer your queries if addressed by right group of community, or if he agree to do so up on your request, to avoid further un indispensable appeal, I personally cannot agree with your plead due to the following reasons.

      1- Electoral commission/ committee include chair person professor Ajang-atot, Dr Majok Dau and his team of elders could have shouldered this complicated claim by individuals and summon him(Hon Deng) immediately because they were mandated by chairman of twic east community in Juba to conduct this election.
      2- Elected MP can be summon by general assembly I am talking about all people of his geographical constituency including Elders, Woman and youth of all payams not individual with consortium of interests.
      3- We are in a digital world where by any evidence must be accompanied by video play to prove a ground of your argument.
      4- Nomination was only made for members of SPLM in the community but surprisingly members of different party were all in the process of election which may a reason made Hon to march out in protest.

      To conclude, these youth with name above played a great role seven years when Hon Deng contested and be a MP of Twic East constituency 11 NLA, these clique have to be told to stop their aggression toward our Elders, they have a very strong propaganda, they humiliate you in public, pursue you to your house and destroy your ambition and reputation, who knows they can do the same to a new candidate of their current choice latter.
      our community is almost at the edge of envy if our elders are not careful in matter to do with reasonable politic, Deng might have not level anybody a rebel officially, I have been attending all these functions including that one conducted at Bior-athuot’s house which should be a serious defamation if confirmed not right, everyone was not allow to election room only 20 voters from every payam and electoral committee without any of these names in a list above, where did they hear that offense? these are just packages of allegation formulated to escort a losing politician home.

      Garang Aleu Gak.

  2. He should step down from NLA representative he will not be respected by this community anymore as the leader.

  3. That is why it is important to be educated, this retard has tarnished his image. Nyopiny sub-clan need to sit down and tell their son (mad tycoon) that patience pays if in case he is scared of Rebecca Nyandeng coming back to Juba (his first enemy).

  4. Rebel choosing rebel: these are not Deng dau words .Deng is a wise politician. I think his political enemies come up with those words.

  5. by the way these group are self claimed group who have no mandate in the Community of twic to spoke out what on behave of Twic Community in Juba,who ever read this article i advice you to analyse them where they came from and what is their interest (what have observer here the writers came from two payams of Ajuong and Pakeer in Twic east County which Comprised of five Payams and than one Nyok Mabior Luol from Lith payam.

  6. Thank you Bany for recognizing that Hon. Deng Dau is better than what his political foes are writing. First of all I think they are talking about another person because the one and only Hon. Deng Dau hails from the great county of Twic East which is No. 11 in the NLA. How can you claim to be pure while yoursleves don’t even know your constituency calling it(No.12). Secondly all those who have signed below the note were not even present at the meeting. Remember that you are just giving Hon. Deng Dau publicity. If you are campaigning for someone, stick to that person because people might forget him. Post relevant issues like what your candidate will do or is capable off instead of wasting precious opportunity on such rubbish.

    1. I think Hon: Deng Dau forget one thing, that the power of Twic East as historic community who elected him into that post, let us not think alot about this, three years are jsut winding down and next election is at corner. Honestly Deng Dau didn’t truely represent Twic with an appreciation. Let Rok or Pakeer and Ajuong deal with him first. Eventhough, this letter signed by many people is weak in wording and flawed and doesn’t carry strong message as it suppose to be, it more persuasive than condemning the act. for those who doubting that Deng didn’t say rebel choose rebel, please note that Hon Deng Dau has changed since he swimming in pool of positions as he holding multiples positions and doesn’t care about a position who knew he failed the owners for.

  7. IF AM REALLY FROM TWIC EAST AND BE THE LEADER FOR TOMORROW THEN I SHOULD HAVE THE ETHIC OF RESPECT OF MY YOUTH LEADERSHIP OF TWIC EAST AND GENERAL TWIC EAST LEADERSHIP BEFORE I POSTING BASELESS CLAIM. MY DEAR ALL AM BEGGING YOU TO USE YOUR WORDS AS YOUR MIRROW TO SEE YOURSELF WHERE ARE YOU?,IT IS JUST THE SECOND AND YOUR WORD SHOULD GRIND YOU.NOW MAKE APOLOGY TO HON.DENG NOT HIM TO GIVE YOU APOLOGY.DON’T USE YOUR OWN INTEREST TO SPOIL THE COMMUNITY,THIS IS THE BIG MOUNTAIN AND YOU DON’T KNOW ITS NAME THEREFORE, YOUR MINDS ARE TOO LITTLE TO FOCUS FOR SOMETHING COMING AFTER 100YEARS LATER.HON.DENG IS OUR LEADER IN A MINUETE,HOUR,DAY AND NIGHT,MONTHS AND YEARS FOR NOW………………

  8. hon. Deng Dau is stating the obvious. who doesn’t know majak agoot, mabior garang, nyandeng chol & family, deng mading and 70% of twii east population are full and passive time rebels respectively. the early party of the current kiir-riek war, twi east was contributing bulls and giving directions to white army with hope that they (white army) will capture juba and most of twi east members will benefit from riek’s government. it was nyandeng who incited innocent nuer to mobile to come to juba. if i were you (writers), i would not have posted this article because it is in bad taste for twi east community. In fact Hon. Deng Dau has tried his best to save face your tainted and disreputed community image. you should be thankful to him. what you don’t know at the moment is that your county among dinka counties in south sudan has lost trust and “marked”and no one will vote any twi east citizen into higher office. forget about your so-called majak agoot and nyandeng. they will may be presidents of pakeer and nyuak payams. your are betrayers and traitors.

  9. hon deng dau is the governor…………………there must be a hater in life whose his/her work is to create words to make a person look bad or to be seem bad by others.. simply deng dau is the best…word rebel is easy to create even a child with only birth certificate can write it ……….so some illitrates people with “only” birth certificate used the word “rebel” which is easy as “abcd” to make Hon Deng Dau seems as bad person……….everyone was born to think not to only eat so dont be fooled by the illitrares ….
