Who will fight another inevitable war with the Notorious Gen. Peter Gatdet Yaka and his group?
By Maker Bona Nyang, Juba, South Sudan
October 27, 2015 (SSB) — We recognize that the security arrangements document is signed yesterday in Addis Ababa-Ethiopia by Riek Machar as Boss of failed coup plotters turned rebel movement, the successful rebellion, I called it successful because they have reached final peace agreement with government, they have got what they wanted.
The semi civil war which started as the result of political disagreement between the SPLM employed and the SPLM unemployed, they called themselves (SPLM-Leaders) and I with the rest of comrades who believed they aren’t, we called them (SPLM-Looters, killers, tribesmen and power gluttony not leaders)
The SPLM unemployed group gathered in SPLM-House on Saturday 6/Dec/2013 and gave out hate speeches against the comrade Chairman of the SPLM party, they uttered their discontent, and said things they never said went they were part of government for almost more eight years. They accused the government with its new team of mismanaging the affair of the Nation and decided to oust the SPLM employed group, without review the cause of why they aren’t hired back by the government.
They concluded that president must go by all means something failed later when tried. From SPLM-House conspiracy, they planned to make rally at freedom Square but it didn’t happen as it was planned, because civilians refused to attend the rally of (75 members of corruption Book).
Since ousting the government was their destiny, they sabotaged SPLM meeting encoded to review the constitution and elect in some members, nominate one person to run for presidential elections that supposed to be held early this year. They mess up the country while calling themselves SPLM Leaders instead of SPLM looters of which they are well known for.
Riek Machar who believed on survey done by his UN-girlfriend, the former head of UN-MESS TO MESS SOUTH SUDAN, Mrs. Hilde F. Johnson, this woman told Riek Machar that, it is possible for you to overthrow President Kiir Mayardit since your tribe; The Nuers are the majority in the army which she estimated 70% of Nuers are in SPLA; Riek Machar who is sick of power accepted the concocted surveyed figures and secured the political support from SPLM-Looters headed by Pagan Amum Okech before he instigated failed coup.
When the coup failed, he managed to escape Juba city, the SPLM-Looters were arrest and government granted them safety because many civilians aren’t happy with their political insolvency resulted into cheap stratagem of dragging the country into war and more voters died, innocent citizens that could defend this country tomorrow when the real enemy pull in.
Riek Machar went to Bor, Jonglei State, where Gen. Peter Gatdet was the overall commander of division eight; he gave wrong messages to all Nuer tribes, that what has happened in Juba is a Nuer and Dinka war, Gatdet responded in favor of Riek Machar, he occupied Bor town and killed his deputy Gen. Ajak Yen who hailed from Dinka Bor.
Riek Machar, met with Nuer chiefs including chiefs from Nuer Lou, he briefed the chiefs and convinced them to fight as Nuer tribes and to kill any Dinka. He told them al Nuers are killed in Juba by Dinka. James Koang Chol also responded in unity state where he was division commander took control and joined Riek Machar, he killed Dinka women, children and men who were oil companies’ staffs in Unity state.
All in all Riek Machar shifted his political weaknesses that were driving him to choose coup than democratic rightfulness procedures of taking power through ballot boxes (voters’ choice). He managed to convince 60% Nuers from all organized forces to fight for his political advantage.
Notorious Gen. Peter Gatdet Yaka who was the first Nuer General to back Riek Machar Rebellion against the government, the lord of his successful rebellion, Gen. Gathoth Gatkouth and other generals ; were disowned by Riek Machar by dismissing them from their useful positions (Gen. Peter Gatdet Yaka was deputy chief of general staffs for operations and Gen. Gathoth Gatkuoth was deputy chief of general staffs for Logistics .
They then decided to form their own movement against both Riek Machar rebel faction and government and political wing is chaired by Gabriel Changson Chang who held position in Riek’s bush formed national committees as chairperson of resources mobilization and finance.
Now, the government of South Sudan under able president and the king of peace H.E Salva Kiir Mayardit, elected president of the Republic of South Sudan and C-in-C of all organized forces have compromised to sign the so called IGAD-PLUS Compromise peace agreement that was onside peace agreement which forced by IGAD mediators to be signed by the government, and government did so for the sake of peace, albeit the document contained the lines that undermined the sovereignty of the country as an independent state of which government made some reservations of that matter and peace was signed in August by the president.
Riek Machar signed security arrangements document yesterday date 26/Oct/2015 as part of the final peace implementation to cessation of hostilities, yes that was positive step for peace implementation to end the multiple sufferings of all South Sudanese, slides peace and development chapter for South Sudan and war should stop forever, whoever wants to be president or whatever the position he/she aspiring then should be people to decide for you. Riek Machar rebellion should be the last insurgency in South Sudan.
But the questions remain: who will fight the Notorious Gen. Peter Gatdet Yaka and his group who defected from Riek Machar? Will it be IGAD-PLUS, Riek Machar or the government to forcefully disarm Gatdet and his loyal generals?
This peace, though forced it will not work if Gen. Peter Gatdet and other defectors aren’t involved. Government forces shouldn’t waste their bullets defending Riek Machar interest; they will only retaliate if they are attacked by any alien forces.
Nobody is against peace, particularly those supporting the government and the president as well, but the peace we need; is that will last forever, the one that bring people together from hearts not sounds, for warring communities to reaccept themselves again as cousins.
Not peace that will let us hide ourselves under the beds, not peace that will let us run again to refugee camps in neighboring countries, not peace that will let us run into UNMISS for our safety, not peace that hindered our national development, crippled our economy’s affluence and stops us from making our own food from our own fertile land through cultivation.
