Viable Peace and the Interest of Uganda, Government, Rebel and Former Detainees

November 11, 2015 (SSB) — When we talk of peace, what comes to my mind is freedom of expression, absent of war, a calm and quite state, free from mistreatment and senseless killing. Peace leads to a state of mental calmness and serenity, with no anxiety. Peace discourages conflict and disagreement among parties that can leads to taking of arms, when it is accepted by both parties as their principle and collective responsibility.
When the citizens and the leaders accept lasting peace to be their main value, definitely there will be respect of law and order rather than assassinations and kind of human rights violation in South Sudan. I can put it “peace pay and war loses” Martin Luther said in one of his speech “violence is immoral because it seeks to humiliate the opponent rather than win his/her understanding”.
I do agree with him because result of violence is death and injures. Also peace result to good level of relationship to our neighbors globally as far as foreign policy is concern. Friends is chosen base on his character.
Uganda
I appreciated the decision taken by President Museveni’s forces for withdrawal after he realized the stay of UPDF wasn’t popular idea anymore. We should know Uganda did not formed alliance with South Sudan without her national interest. This happens because of her national interest, UPDF is President Museveni’s profit making army force and protector of his government during political difficulties in Uganda. UPDF is getting its funding in South Sudan, Somalia, Congo’s’ budgets simply President Museveni cannot accommodate the huge army in Uganda because he is concern about his economy.
He addressed UPDF some years back to make gun their mothers and fathers. The first intervention in Bor town for UPDF was good moved for Museveni to intervene but that doesn’t give him mandate to oppose signing of peace. We are the cause root of this war and we can merge when international community called us for reconciliation. Under some circumstances alliance increase the probability of wars. In other countries alliance reduces the likelihood of wars because alliance reliability affects the behavior of nation.
I personally support relations of neighbors but I extremely dislike when one alliance is too insatiable. Uganda increased traveling VISA from $50 to $100 that means Uganda want to use this opportunity to gather wealth from South Sudan and does not care about our crisis.
President Museveni don’t care about our suffering it adds more salt on wound instead of treating it. H.E Vice President Wani Iga proposed for Kenya and Uganda to accept SSP to purchase commodities in their countries but it did not work.
Executive and legislature.
The interest of political blunders of Kiir government is to loot public funds and create discrimination among local communities, counties and regions. Their aim is to influence the president not to sign peace deal. How many times president did send delegation to Addis Ababa to negotiate peace on his behalf but they failed to give peace a chance. The reason behind not negotiating peace in good faith is because so and so wants to be in the parliament for another added year without being subjected to election which they expect none of them to manage second term re-election.
They have done nothing in their constituencies since corruption has been their duty. The cabinet ministers panic of losing their positions because they are too incompetence to be re-appointed in the formation of coalition government. Also some of the cabinet ministers have sibling rivalry toward detainees; they are taking this senseless war as an advantage to spoil their colleagues in the struggled. They want to fake the history and turn the public eyes from positive view of these detainees (freedom fighters) to be regarded as enemies of the people.
Most of them are shading tears not because of people we have lost in 15 December 2013 but because of their self-interest. The big threats are detainees because they are influential and international forces will protect them. The government will hate detainees more than the rebel Riak. This will prove to you there is hinder agenda of some dignitaries in the government.
Dr. Riek Machar(rebel leader)
His plan was to sign peace and when he comes to Juba he will try to make a tactic to snatch presidency by military mean as plan A.The reason IGAD distance two armies far away from Juba, it is because the two armies have potential to be apparatus of coup and assassinations. His plan B will be to influence the people of Greater Equatoria region and all the minority tribes to vote out Salva Kiir come the next election. He knows Kiir is weak to influence other tribes to back him up.
Also he knows, Kiir is inconsistent to hold one person for long and convince other politicians in the game of politics. When I talk of strong politicians, I mean G10 who are influential nationally and internationally and I know most of you cannot admit that.
As matter of fact as my own view Dr. Riek Machar will never lead because he has poor calculation when it comes to perusing of political position. He is short tamper, in patient and evil minded who cannot achieve something democratically.
G10 the detainees
They were collected by truck from their homes when President declared the attempted coup. This was done to put them in the same shoes with Dr. Riek Machar who did not flew the country to Ethiopia, Kenya, Eritea, etc so that government can justify how it was attempted coup. These are innocent politicians who love their country.
It was through their struggle peace (CPA2) was signed but government will not believe as G10 effort. G10 were arrested purposely to eliminate them and this idea was not from president Kiir. It was the planned of few people in the cabinet and army.
They were not killed because president Kiir and Gen. Kuol Manyang Juuk stood strong to protect their lives. The interest of detainees is peace in the country and economic stability. Their dream is too big to be achieved through blood shed.
