My colleagues, Cde SPLM Secretaries and staff of the Secretariat
Cde Ladies and Gentlemen
On behalf of my colleagues, I would want to thank Cde SPLM Chairman for the trust bestowed upon us, we the newly appointed SPLM Secretaries. We thank you for giving us an opportunity to serve the people of south Sudan through our ever able party of liberation and nation building, the SPLM. We will implement the SPLM vision, values and principles of making south Sudan a home for freedom, democracy, equality, justice and prosperity. We are proud to be SPLM members and workers.
Cde Chairman
The late British Prime Minister, Mr. Churchill, once said: The farther back you look, the more farther you look into the future’’. Let us glorify the great history of SPLM, the party that has resolved the slavery, oppression and colonisation problems which had plagued and consumed generations for many years.
Yes Comrade Chairman, truly SPLM is not a normal political party power, but a Revolutionary Liberation Movement that has brought freedom, justice, equality, democracy, prosperity and restoring the dignity of South Sudanese. Moreover, SPLM has accomplished the aspirations of the people of south Sudan in terms of identity of one people one nation.
Cde Chairman
We have paid for this nation at a very high cost in terms of lives, material wealth and dehumanisation. In Anyanya Liberation Movement in which you were a child soldier, the slogan was: ‘’If I betray, kill me. And if I am killed, avenge me’’. The same slogan goes with the SPLM: ‘’Give me liberty or give me death’’.
It has always been this spirit that makes our martyrs, heroes and heroines, pay the ultimate price for freedom and liberty, and currently, in defence of the constitution, democracy and sovereignty of South Sudan.
You’re Comradeship, Cde Chairman
Actions speak louder than words. As we are sworn in today, we will start to discharge our duties by addressing the SPLM immediate fundamental programmes under our very able Seceretary General. In your speech on the state of nation on 18th November 2015 last week, your comradeships said:
“We must stop bloodshed and destruction in our country’’ I hope this massage is well received by our brothers and sisters on the other side so that we double our efforts to put our country back to normalcy. On our part as SPLM Sectretatries and cadres, we will work for peace by reconcilling in the streets, in the places of work, in the cattle camps and villages. All of us will be messengers of peace and harmony.
Each of us will work tirelessly to research on issues and good practices and improve our technology and communication system to disseminate SPLM good news to our people through social networking with others. We are optimistic that our comrade secretaries will make use of the experiences from our friendly neighbouring political parties in the region and internationally to improve SPLM performance.
We are SPLM, a political membership that knows and is familiar with its cadres in all the states, Abyei Area and Diaspora. It is this membership that is the main source of income for our party. We will establish data for all the cadres’ academic specialization and business community internally and externally.
Cde Chairman,
As we are swornin today, we promise that SPLM will never be stabbed at the back again by its own members. We will promote democratic values of our party so that nobody shall gain preach violence, ethnic hatred and disharmony.
By the oath we have taken, we the new Secretariate will begin the task of reformation with new spirit and commitment to serve our mother SPLM party with intergrity and faithfulness. The transformation of the SPLM must start with full accelerated gear and a new footing in line with our amendedConstitution, Manifesto, Rules and Regulations.
SPLM does not have a permanent friend or enermy, but only the permanent interest of the people of South Sudan. We have a strong conviction in team spirit to do our best and make SPLM attractive and strong to win elections continuously without failure.
Cde Chairman
Our good work has started. We are ready to implement the immediate task of regaining trust and confidence of our people on the SPLM so that we bring glory and hope to people of soutth Sudan.
